The newer ones have fewer amber and white LEDs in them and I could tell just looking at them when I put in one of the new ones so his measurements were obviously flawed or he didn't measure the latest ones.

Light meters are kind of hard to mess up, you point it at the light source. Having fewer diodes doesn't mean the output of each LED diode is less.

No but I can also see the difference and if the diodes are the same type, voltage, etc. less diodes = less light.
