Who has the worst hybrid MPG?

I made a quick bank run this morning and while the heat was warming up the MPG was low as you could expect. With so many high MPG reports, I was wondering how low have you seen it go?

That is a report on a 1.1 mile trip and has little value in a MPG discussion on any vehicle.

Just what were you expecting on a cold morning and a 1-mile run? Hardly the setup for the electric to kick it. Maybe on the way home? I have seen 15 or so when I did a similar jaunt to the building materials store then once it sat there while I was inside the electric side came on leaving the parking lot for the rest of the ride.

Having it set to last trip can be confusing but look at your overall MPG and you won't need to be taking another 50 out of the bank like you would if you were running that old Dodge you traded in for the Maverick.

Takes a mile or two for the engine to properly warm up the battery before it goes into hybrid mode.

At lunch today, I drove home. 3.1 mile trip. On the way home, I got 29 mpg. On the way back to the office, I got 51.3 mpg.

Same exact time, only in different directions.

Meaningless for me, anyway. My "short" trips are almost all over 5+ miles.

Per the truck calculation:
Worst trip mileage I've seen on my Hybrid is 31.1
Best trip mileage I've seen on my Hybrid is 71.4

Per the truck calc., I haven't had a tank below 40 mpg.
Per truck calc., overall lifetime mileage on my Hybrid is 42. I am aware this estimate is not the same as manually calculated mpg, and, in my vehicle, is usually off by ~2mpg.

I am currently seeing low 30's for a whole tank. Cold weather has brought lots of remote starting for cabin heat.

I find it amazing and fascinating that despite all this I can't seem to do worse than 31.

I have seen 10-15MPG for .2 mile trips with engine on.

There are too many variables to bother comparing here. I've driven hybrids for 10 years (2013 and 2021 Avalon). MPG can range from 0 - 99, depending on when I look at the gauge. I live in Iowa, so my mpg is dependent on the season. One thing I learned about hybrid mpg is the hotter, the better. My normal summer highway mpg is 42-44, but on an extremely hot day it was 48 on a 100+ mile round trip.

Since buying my truck on 12/30/22 I have driven it 28,980 miles. I have logged every gas purchase and over the entire period have an average of 31.2 mpg.

That seems awful low to me especially if you are in California. Must be lots of 65 mph plus driving.

Yep, kinda low for my taste, but i do drive around 80. This is LA and people here drive fast. But coming from a AWD Honda Element that gave me 17 MPGs, I can't complain too much. Absolutely love my Mav.

Took a 700 mile trip, all freeway on Wednesday, 35.6 mpg.


Took a 100 mile trip today. All freeway, 43.6 mpg.

17.8 MPG.
99% highway.
Rocky Mountains were involved.

I was towing the equivalent of a second Maverick.

So really 17.8 to move two is like 35.6 MPG for each based on gallons needed. I'm content with that.
