Ford has provided the audible alert in the past in some vehicles. My sister's 2013 Escape Titanium has it. Sometimes it's annoying because it will sound when a vehicle in the next lane is close - like at a stop light. But I'm with all of you, I would like to have it, at least as an option.

I 100% agree! My wife’s Mazda, CX-5 has the audible warning and it is a lifesaver. I sure wish Ford would listen to their customers and update this system.

The safety feature of a solid lamp indication in the driver/passenger mirror when a vehicle enters the danger area around the vehicle is nice and so is the quick flashing of that indication when you engage your turn signal indicating that you are planning a turn into the protected region but WHY don't you go one step farther and make it useful a protective. You could even add a selection in the menu system to either accept/engage the feature or leave it as it is now (visual only). You have the BLIS System.

From Ford "BLIS activates when you are driving faster than six miles per hour. The light sensor in the rear will send a signal, and you can see it blinking from both side mirrors. The detection area is from 13 feet and can extend to 59 feet, with a speed higher than 30 mph above the rear bumper. Also, it is accessible on both sides of the car." WHY CAN'T Ford also use the same audible protection beeping or sound(s) that audibly activate when cross traffic is detected? That fast beeping surely gets your attention and so it could do the same if you are about to turn into someone in your protection area or blindside.

What I'd love to see (especially if implemented on older versions or allowed as a modification on older versions) is for FORD to program in the sounding of an audible warning similar to the rear sensor beeping. like as you approach something from the rear sensors, or seat belt warning, or some kind of audible warning that would come on and engage at the same time that the current flashing of the in-mirror light when you engage the turn signal indicates a desire to turn. I'm not saying a bell, tone, or audible warning when a vehicle enters the protection range but ONLY an audible indication when the danger zone is occupied and the turn signal engaged indicating a turn is desired.

Many other vehicles I have had offer this feature and this audible warning has saved me countless times. I'm not saying anything would have happened without it and I do look and not just listen but that audible notification which really should be easy and inexpensive to program into your system on all your vehicles would and could be beneficial to all drivers. I so wish you would do this. As I said if the driver doesn't want it then make it in the menu system where the driver could have the option of choosing what to use either none, visual only, or visual and audible. Why is this not something Ford has not thought of before or why has Ford not implemented it?

Thanks for the consideration and if others think this is helpful, and/or have experienced it on other vehicles, please sound out your feelings and voice your input.
I agree, it should at least be an option. It seems that Ford offers enough to give some help and meet legal issues but not a full real safety Set of features.

👍 Would like to have this as a upgrade to the 360 software, in selectable mode, for my 2022 Lariat Mav.

We traded our 2016 CX-5 for a 23 Toyota Corolla Cross. Loved the CX-5. Never in the shop once except for routine maintenance. The audible alarm was a welcome feature. The Toyota even with their latest safety sense tech does not have it 🤔

I was happy when the blind spot was displayed in the center rear view mirror, outside mirrors not as much.
You should be looking at your side mirrors also when attempting to change lanes not just the center rear view mirror

Tips For Changing Lanes And Merging Safely

  • Check your mirrors.
After signaling, look in your rearview and side mirrors to make sure you have enough space to change lanes. If the lane you’re merging into has a car in it, be sure to wait until you can see the entire vehicle and a few feet of road in front of it in the mirror.

I don't buy vehicles without it because I use the blindspot system.

I had a Mazda CX-9 and the chirping was very annoying. If Ford were to add this, it would need to be configurable.

I like the system as-is because before changing lanes you need to look and since it's a yellow indicator it's easily noticed, and since it's not chirping it's easily ignored if you have no need or intent to change lanes. I also turn my head and look over my shoulder before changing lanes despite this or any other system.

But with the Mazda system, at least with my CX-5, there was no audible alert unless you used the turn signal while there was a vehicle in your blind spot and at that point it should annoy you.

My CX-9 was a 2016. It's been gone almost two years now, but I was thinking it chirped all the time and I could be mistaken.

I still don't need chirping, but I certainly agree working like you described on a toggle would be a nice to have.

That can’t be right, because if so it would be chirping continuously on an urban freeway. It only chirps when using the turn signal to attempt a lane change above 20 mph and a vehicle is detected. And even then it only substitutes for the audible turn signal clicks, using the same timing cadence.

Makes sense, but I remembered the annoyance.

It's city driving, not highway. A lot of chirping from vehicles in the opposite lane of traffic, or adjacent lane in a double-left.

I think the Ford system alerts in those conditions as well, but as I said, since it's just flashing and I know it's safe, it's easily ignored.

Yep you are right. I suppose I didn't do lots of city driving in the Mazda and it was my wife's car but I do remember a shall we say a false alert at intersections rarely.. As @Maverstang noted there is a speed component also and maybe Mazda needed to increase that a bit from 20mph but overall I liked the audible warning. Didn't hear it that often of course.
