It's all good. I get it. The sub does work, it's not "mashed against the seat back". It's just closer on the top than on the bottom because of the seat angle. And mine is about a quarter inch gap. I know you created this thread, but I hope you realize that after you do, not every reply is about you or in many cases might be a sidetrack or irrelevant to the original topic.
I was just replying in favor of the grille shown in post #89, that's all. If you were imagining this was some attempt to dig on your install, it was not. I'm not in your truck, I can't see if you have a quarter inch clearance, negative half inch, or what. I am dispensing opinion and general advice, anyone can take it or not as they see fit. No worries either way.

It might help with clearance! But it's really just stuffing that is being pushed up against. I can't imagine it making a huge difference with bass and my seat closes correctly
I like TB too. I tried TB, Dayton and a Goldwood. But it all boils down to sound. To my ears, the Dayton sounded best. And it had the most punch by far IMO. Despite QT, it did not like the enclosure sealed. It could be that there wasn't enough volume, but the point was to use the existing enclosure. Whatever the case, and despite the tight fit, it works.While the Tang Band might fit better, I imagine the Dayton would still perform better. The Dayton has a lower Fs, and is more efficient(which is better for the low power factory amp). I'm not knocking the TB though, and it is still probably better than factory. I just think the Dayton should do a little better going by the specs listed. I'm not getting into the Q stuff and which is better for a free air application. I love this thread either way. It's such a simple, cost effective solution that works
I listened some of the small bass module released by TB. The small form factor intrigued me. I had planned to buy a couple of them for the slots on each side of the back seats, using them with a good amp, mostly for MID bass. Couldn't find any actually for sale.
no. the sync3 unit (or maybe the B&O amp) has a high pass filter at like 35hz for the 6x9 sub. I am not sure of the low pass, probably around 150-200hz.
I think the amp is already filtered to the sub.
That's interesting it's filtered on both ends.. I thought I had seen a thread with a possible way to modify this via forscan... Luckily the Dayton's frequency response is 36 to 1,100Hz, so based on what you're saying it wouldn't matter if following the OP's method.
