So looking reviews, good and bad, from people who bought a $400-$500 hard cover on Amazon.

I put this one on a couple of weeks ago. I like it. It’s been in a thunderstorm and through the car wash twice. I check each time and only see a few small drops of leakage.

I crawled inside after I installed it and saw a couple of spots where light was getting, so I moved it slightly and added a couple of small pieces of the included foam.

The only downside is the clamps on each end have to be released manually. Some of the more expensive toppers have a cable that releases the clamps instantly. This is not a big deal for me.

I would buy it again.

it’s dark right now and I don’t have a picture of it installed. I’ll try to update this with a photo.

I wanted one that could work with Elevate TS rails, so I went with the Rough Country hard tri-fold.

for a bit more than the Amazon/ebay ones, but less than the Bak/etc, I think its a good price point option (also, none of the cheap, hard ones can work with the bed rail/rack setups)

I got mine on Ebay but I believe it is the same as the $400-500 ones on Amazon. They are all identical in the pictures. Very nice for the money. I drove through a down pour last week and it didn't leak at all. More security than a soft cover. I keep my golf clubs in the bed so I needed something that couldn't be opened with a pocket knife.

I have the EBay one as well but you’re right they all look the same and mine arrived in an unbranded box. Must all be made in the same factory in china.
Mine does leak but I didn’t put the included front weather strip on yet. Are you using it?

Like, Amazon brand?

Do you have a link to the one you were looking at specifically?

I didn't put the weather strip on the front edge. I think it's too thick and seems to seal better without it.

Thanks. I can see light at the drivers front corner so I guess I’ll need to add something on mine.

Got the hard tri-fold from ebay as well. Had it for 2 months with no issues, really like it. Agree the foam for the front edge is too thick, when I get time I'm gonna remove it. Love the LED lights that came with it too.

Thanks, took a look and for about $125 more it's low profile, seems like a better release and maybe material. Can you close the tailgate with no issue when it's closed. Will review a little more

I can close the tailgate before or after the tonneau and it seems like either way works fine.
We don't get much rain here, so it'll be a while to see if one way vs the other seals better.
The manual states to close cover first, tailgate last
https://s3.amazonaws.com/roughcountry/install/Rough Country Low Hard trifold cover Manual.pdf

The main downside to the Rough Country is that it does not fold up against the window for full bed access. You have to take it off (quick with thumbscrews, no tools) and store it for that. I was willing to make that compromise to get low-profile, compatible with bed rails/racks and hundreds of dollars less than the next option with those features.

Finally, b/c I'm a cheap bastard (some say frugal) - I was comfortable buying through ReconRecovery b/c they have a 1-year price match. So if it drops for Black Friday somewhere, hopefully I can get a price match. It just drop ships no matter where "purchased from".
