AWD Hybrid plugin would sell. Whether anyone needs it or not is not important. People think they want it.

I could actually use the AWD part but we get snow and ice here for real and I drive in it.

it's one reason the hybrid isn't so bad, FWD isn't awful in the snow. I've made it work many times. My AWD subie is much nicer though.

I mean why focus on scaling the current production for hybird and ecoboost models, nope that is too hard. Ford's solution? Let's just introduce more trims/models to create a 2-3 year backlog!
NY thoughts exactly!!!

I'm curious if there is any "PRE-ENGINEERED" structure below the maverick that could support a bigger battery pack etc.

Think how the Corvette C8 was designed from the start incorporating a tunnel and suspension geometry and design allowing for the AWD e-ray variant and placement of front electric motor for that application.
if they were to do what some of the older Honda hybrid (and others) have done, you can remove the rear under seat storage for a larger battery. This of course doesn’t address AWD, just a larger plug in battery.

If Ford made an AWD hybrid Maverick, I'd seriously consider trading in my Escape. As a matter of fact, I'm waiting to see who will make an AWD hybrid variant first: Ford's Maverick, Hyundai's Santa Cruz, Honda's Ridgeline, or whatever the rumored Toyota and/or Stellantis equivalent(s) are.
This is already confirmed for 2025 model year.

Well I get that. I think they should be AWD standard equipment but I guess Fiord disagrees. I live in AZ and just don’t think where we live justifies the price increase but that’s me.
Nah, AWD is just going to decrease the mileage and increase the price by at least 4K - there are plenty of people who don't really care about AWD and would likely deter them from buying one, Ford's in the business of getting their fleet mpg up - mandatory AWD isn't going to help any.

I wouldn't want AWD.

How about an AWD hybrid Option, just like the Ecoboost models? I don’t like it when anyone mandates choices for me! I very likely might have ordered a hybrid had AWD been an option.

oh no problem with having it as an option , just don't take away the FWD version as that's where the highest MPG is at...

I'm early 40's, so tail end millennial. I only drove autos until I bought my first car when I was 16, back in high school, second car (college) was also a stick, and girlfriend in college drove a stick ranger.

My parents (boomers) only had autos for me to learn on when I was 15.
Guaranteed they drove stick before you were even a thought. I'm a Gen X and had 4 speed manuals down at 14.

Its so funny to me when boomers blame millennials for the problems they created, and pretend its somehow our fault when we were literally children when they began. The proliferation of automatic transmissions is squarely based on boomer buying trends. I'm 31, so younger-ish millennial, and even when I was a kid in the 90s-2000s, the manual cars were very basic compacts or sports cars, none of which my boomer parents were going to buy to haul us kids around. My mom always had midsize or large sedans and dad always had a pickup (even his basic F-150s were automatic). They probably stopped driving stick somewhere in the 70s... damn millennials!

We don't drive stick because boomers didn't buy them for us to learn on. Generally, of course.
I taught my 16 Millennial son how to drive stick on my F450 V10 6 speed rollback when he was 16. He now drives a 13 Shelby GT500 6 speed he bought right out of college. It's his only vehicle.
