your answer is contained within your question.

the infotainment is so much more complicated than tires or a rear view mirror. some of the functions of the vehicle are controlled by it, especially on vehicles that don't have climate control buttons / knobs, where it's 100% dependent on the touchscreen to use HVAC.

but even on the Maverick there are things that the infotainment device does that if you replaced it with a device that was 'only' a radio you would lose functionality. ambient lighting, rear seat monitoring, all doors / only driver's door unlocking, etc. a replacement device has to interface with the factory system and it looks like the maverick is selling enough models without B&O for manufacturers to be interested in putting in the time and effort to interface to it.

most of the time you're going to see a bigger screen as some kind of upsell, a reason / benefit from a higher trim or option package. the maverick only has one screen size but they actually aren't the same. the B&O equipped trucks have a higher resolution capacitive touchscreen, instead of resistive.
That might be true for some, but my XLT Hybrid doesn't have most of that functionality on the screen. The seat indicators show up on the dashboard area (near the speedometer), and the climate control doesn't go through my screen either.

I realize it does for some, but someone could create the simple version wiring harness and the complex version wiring harness and charge more for the latter. Just sayin'...

Modular Solutions

Pioneer’s Modular Solutions receivers are designed for applications, often newer vehicles, with limited depth behind the dash that prohibits the installation of a traditional 1DIN or 2DIN receiver. This installation flexibility is achieved by physically separating the LCD touchscreen display from the sub-chassis that contains the CPU, control system, terrestrial radio tuner, amplifier and input/output connections. This allows the sub-chassis to be mounted in a different location* or different horizontal/vertical orientation within the vehicle. To simplify installation and increase vehicle applications, Pioneer and Metra Electronics are partnering to develop vehicle-specific Radio Install Kits** that make the Pioneer Modular Solutions receivers both cosmetically integrated and simple to install.
I also saw on the Pioneer product page that iData Maestro is one of the OEM integrations and there was a thread last year where someone found a carfi shop in Brazil (I believe) that had used a Pioneer receiver with the iData Maestro. I bet that was all hand integration though, and this Metra kit should be plug and play. Still, if the Maestro could integrate a front camera, that might be appealing for some.

Agreed. They have a 9" modular radio as well, might have stuck up a little more from the daah but probably could have filled that space nicely. I noticed they show just the wiring kit online so maybe someone will custom make a mount for the larger screen

Factory really must be horrible???

I guess I’ll find out in a few months.
I don't have any functional issues with mine but I would like to have a nicer quality and larger screen. I get it’s a budget truck but they skimped a little on the radio. But no real complaints from me, I work in the car audio industry so I see the bigger and higher resolution screen all day

Dude, wth, not using the entire dash and keeping the cubby was not the smartest idea.

Will using this system guarantee no more freezing of the screen and radio????

That is a link to a dash and wiring kit for a Nissan Pathfinder
Now it is. The part number is still correct just shows something else. It did show the Mav kit and had an explanation of whats included in the Mav kit.
