That might be true for some, but my XLT Hybrid doesn't have most of that functionality on the screen. The seat indicators show up on the dashboard area (near the speedometer), and the climate control doesn't go through my screen either.your answer is contained within your question.
the infotainment is so much more complicated than tires or a rear view mirror. some of the functions of the vehicle are controlled by it, especially on vehicles that don't have climate control buttons / knobs, where it's 100% dependent on the touchscreen to use HVAC.
but even on the Maverick there are things that the infotainment device does that if you replaced it with a device that was 'only' a radio you would lose functionality. ambient lighting, rear seat monitoring, all doors / only driver's door unlocking, etc. a replacement device has to interface with the factory system and it looks like the maverick is selling enough models without B&O for manufacturers to be interested in putting in the time and effort to interface to it.
most of the time you're going to see a bigger screen as some kind of upsell, a reason / benefit from a higher trim or option package. the maverick only has one screen size but they actually aren't the same. the B&O equipped trucks have a higher resolution capacitive touchscreen, instead of resistive.
I realize it does for some, but someone could create the simple version wiring harness and the complex version wiring harness and charge more for the latter. Just sayin'...
