Ok, I finally hit 40k miles a little over a week ago. Would have been a couple of months ago, but due to light driving to not cause more damage and it being in the shop (I'll discuss below), it took a little longer.

Anyway, I have 2022 2.0 EB XLT/AWD/FX4/4k Tow/Luxury with sunroof and rear slider.

I probably, should have went back and re-read my 30k review, but I didn't so this is maybe more of a cumulative summary.

My gas mileage has dropped and the economy gauge is mostly worthless. My last trip read 29.7 and my manual calculation was 27.5. I'm probably usually about 2 MPG below what it shows. This was also a trip that I've taken many times and a year ago, I would say it would be closer to 30 MPG. I was hoping it was due to the rear end issues, but since that is now fixed, not sure. I did have to replace tires, but noticed the drop before the new tires, so I don't want to say that's it. I'm not complaining as it's still good mileage, just that I've been able to tell that it's dropped.

Moved many small things in the back, several lawn mowers, big ladder, several kayak trips, it continues to show the utility and flexibility for a bed.

The radio gremlins haven't shown back up, previously it would lock up and sometimes it would stay on, even with the truck off and key out and doors locked. Not sure if there was an update that was pushed down to fix this, but I'm glad it hasn't happened in a while. The wired carplay is still wonky, but I wonder if they're all like that.

The HVAC system seems to work much like the economy gauge, it just makes up what it wants and does its own thing. Regardless of what temp it's set, there's really three settings, super cold/maybe warm if it wants/and Hot! Then regardless of what is set to, it will go to super cold and crank up the fan (without displaying a fan speed change). Just a goofy annoyance that I've gotten used to.

One of the reasons I bought the Mav was I was tired of expensive repair bills and wanted the flexibility of a truck for some activities. It's sort of met that. While I didn't have any bills, it has been in the shop 3 times for recalls and each took multiple trips to complete, so while it didn't cost any money, it was time and hassle. The last with the rear differential unit was scary in that I'm not sure how long it was bad, but it took 4-6 weeks from the time I was able to get into the dealer for the initial apt (plus another 2-4 weeks for the initial appt). While it was covered, it has me worried that I might be on the hook for another $4k repair in a year or two. If I had to do it again, I would have bought the extended warranty and just used my sisters address to get the discount.

I would say at this point, it's broken itself in as transportation. The plastics on the interior show wear, initially it seemed like a lot, but it hasn't gotten worse so maybe it caught up with the age :) No strange noises or rattles, but it's not the quietest on the road as you do get some wind noise. The engine doesn't sound as buzzy as when I first got it, not sure if its just better or I notice it less. Nothing to really dislike but nothing to make it enjoyable. It serves its purpose for trips to the home improvement store and hauling the kayaks, so so on road trips, daily driver pretty much normal.

I would consider selling it and getting something else, but right now there's not much else I'm interested in and at the price this was, I think it was a good purchase.

Thanks for sharing the story, it was helpful for me.

Sounds like you got a ford lemon. Even if it didn't cost much it takes time away and the confidence while driving. Get rid of it before before the warranty ends.

@spyderman01 thanks for your higher mileage review. I have the Lariat of your build and only approaching 1k (as I have only had it for a month) and most higher mileage reviews on here are Hybrid reviews. So I appreciate seeing yours and that you seem to be legit/honest in your review.

I have a couple questions. How do you feel about the seats on longer trips? So far they seem to be really hit or miss. Some love them, some hate them. I havent taken a longer trip yet as I am trying to "break it in" before my once every other month or so , 4hr (8hr round trip) weekend get aways. and I am aware there isnt really a need for a "break in" on new vehicles, but I plan on keeping this thing for hopefully 10+ years, so I am trying to be conservative with it as much as I can.

You mentioned that you would consider selling it. Can you put a reason to why? Did it lose the "new car feeling" and now is just dull. All the small issues just make you want something without them? No longer serves its ideal purpose or "dont need the bed anymore"... family got bigger and its too small....etc?

I havent had any of the gremlins you have experienced so far, but are aware of them such as the radio, interior scratching etc...but overall I am still happy with the vehicle. So thats why I would like to know why you would consider selling it. If you hated it, I assume you would in an instant, or if you loved it, would only do it if you just had to, (or maybe offered a ton of money for it), but considering selling it, id like to know why.
Thanks!

There are a few threads on AFE bias that can help you with that - if you get the truck into engineering mode, you can calibrate the gauge to be more accurate. Though some here find you have to adjust it for summer/winter differences, and of course after new tires as you mention.

Here's one example, but there's a half dozen of them that might be able to give you some estimates of the value to put in if you don't have any hand-calculated data up front:

The seats on longer trips are just barely adequate. The lumbar support and heat helps, but I find them stiff and uncomfortable after a few hours. I've driven up to 15 hours straight and that trip was brutal. The couple of hours and back is not so bad. For background, I am shorter, 5'6" and have back issues, I would rate this as middle of my experience. My sister has the Lariat, and while similar the seats seem nicer from the time I've spent in hers.

As for selling it, I would say it's a combination of things. I would like better long distance comfort, I miss the space and flexibility of an SUV and I'm still a little concerned regarding long term reliability. I actually had an offer to buy it for what I paid for it two years ago, but I turned it down as the big question is what would I replace it with?
