So I made it to 10k miles in a little over 4.5 months, I guess that I've been driving a bit. Nothing major has happened since my last update, just a few additional comparisons and notes. As a note, I have an XLT AWD/4K/FX4/EB/Luxury
My gas mileage is probably around 25-27 average (my calculation). The gage is still off by about 2 MPG, so I generally just ignore it. I installed the Gator soft trifold. It was supper easy to install, and it has kept dry with the few rainstorms we've had. My only complaint is that I get a humming noise from it around 45-55 MPH. It's definitely the cover. I will probably get a hard cover when I can find the one I want. I wanted the Diamondback SE, but can't get it for the Maverick yet, even though it's listed. Might go with the Sentry roll up, but we'll see.
My Sister picked up her Hybrid Lariat Lux, so I have some comparisons for those on the fence. The Lariat drives much smoother and quieter. They hybrid is nice off the line and the transition to gas is smooth. The gas engine in the hybrid makes much less noise than my EB! Overall the Lariat Hybrid is much quieter than my AWD EB. The nice feature she has that I wish I did was the power rear window. I know, it's simple, but when I pop open my sunroof, it would be very nice to open that up to let some cross wind flow without having to crack the front window and I can't reach back that far on the go. Oh, the screen on the Lariat is also much nicer! I could see trading up in the future if I can get an AWD Lariat Hybrid.
First oil change was $70 at the dealer and used my points for it. They also completed the trailer brake controller recall and the gas tank recall. My gas tank wasn't punctured, but still plan for your vehicle to be there for a day. I think mine was the first that the dealer did and he said they did not plan well for it and weren't prepared for how involved it was. Basically they have to drop the gas tank, take photos to send to Ford, then put the tank back in.
It's been quite handy in having moved a lot of furniture the past few months and a few kayak trips. I understand keeping the bed shorter, but a 5ft bed would have been much more usable. a lot of items I had were just at 5ft and it would have been nice to close the gate to keep some small things from moving about. A bed extender sill wouldn't cut it, but would be helpful.
Overall, still quite pleased with my purchase!
