I'm currently driving a 2020 Jeep renegade with turbo, and for giggles I looked up it's 0-60 and it said 8.7-8.9 seconds...i have road rage and pass people ALL the time on the highway, and I drive 20 miles of highway to work everyday and I have NO problem merging and passing people... Only when the people in front of me are slow and there's a solid so I can't pass 😠 are when I have problems, so I'm incredibly surprised by the hybrid even being a bit faster! It'll definitely be fine!

Forgive me if this has been asked, and for not knowing but...

If I order the hybrid, and I'm not happy with the acceleration, or overall power, are there mods that can be done to make this more powerful? I'm not looking to spend tens of thousands on modifications, or an engine swap, but I know you can tune the ecoboost...
As a software developer I assure you the interface between ICE (gas engine) of the hybrid are specifically programmed to work in harmony with the electric motors and eCVT....I don't think a dealer or Joe Smoe Ford mechanic will have any clue on how to modify software to retain that interface with the eCVT, ICE and electric motor if anyone of the 3 devices are changed. If buying a hybrid it's best to make good choices up front, or go bigger....the days of the shade tree mechanic are unfortunately coming to an end.

I drive an 06 Element. I will be extremely happy with this newfound John Force like:giggle: acceleration.

The hybrid will be nearly as fast as the ~ 300 horsepower V6 in my VW Atlas, so there is that. You'll do fine. There have been several videos demonstrating hybrid acceleration in the low 8 second / high 7 second range now.

7.5 to 8.5 0 to 60 is fine. There always a time when Sub 7 0 to 60 was for performance cars
From "Old Car Memories"...

And Car Life on another occasion tested a base 4-bbl 389 1965 GTO and managed a 6.6 second 0-60 mph time and a 1/4 mile of 14.8 seconds at 99 mph. This was proof that those buyers who could not afford the Tri-Power setup could still get great performance.

BTW...the SC turbo is doing 0-60 in 6.3-6.6 in multiple reviews I have seen.

Test drive an Escape hybrid if you’re unsure, but with a 0-60 in the 7/8sec range it’ll be butt dyno approved.

C'mon man...only once so far is known...
No....Hyundai has had issues with the dct powertrain before Santa Cruz. For example theirs hates speeds under 40 mph and is known to stall out.

I think being honest about what class the Maverick really sits in engine wise will help. While the Mav looks like a truck, the drivetrain really is in the MidSUV, small truck and Crossover territory.

Maverick hybrid: 191 hp and 155 lb-ft of torque.
Maverick Ecoboost: 250 horsepower and 277 pound-feet
Subaru Outback: 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque
Nissan Rogue: 181 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque
Honda CR-V: 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque.
Mazda CX-5: 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque
2003 2.3L Ranger: 143 Horsepower and 154 Torque
Toyota 2.7L Tacoma: 159 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque

While i wouldnt call any of these performance vehicles, they don't struggle to pass.

Under a full load the Mav hybrid might be a little slow, but that's no different than my Ranger
The 155 lb-ft of torque is just for the ICE. I think I have heard it's at least around 177 with the electric motor.

Yeah, but you can't add it to the ICE torque if it's generating the electricity that gets you the electric torque.

Sure you can. Don't forget there's two electric motors. There's instances where the ICE can be driving the wheels and turning the starter/generator motor which is passing current to the traction motor.

True, but we're discussing specifications, output limits, not routine use. ICE providing traction and charge is a sweet spot, not an extreme.

Yes, but you skipped the part where I said that the generated current is going to the drive motor (instead of charging the HVB) which is where you get the combined output of ICE + electric motor under certain load conditions.

As someone who once drove a 1982 Plymouth Horizon with the 0-60 acceleration time of 13.2 seconds.. downhill, with a tailwind.. and another car pushing you.... the Maverick Hybrid is more than capable with 0-60 in the low 8s for normal driving conditions. If you want the 'sporty' oomph though, go EB.
