My 2023 xlt hybrid was built in March. To make a long story short, it isn't here yet. After multiple changed eta dates, my dealership was finally able to get some information from Ford. Apparently, my Maverick was damaged somehow either at the plan, or during loading for shipping. It's currently at the plant "being repaired." No description of what exactly the damage is or any eta for the repair. To say the least, Im not overly excited about getting a "new" vehicle that's already been wrecked and sitting for 7 months. I feel like Ford should offer me something for the hassle. A rebate, a free accessory, something. What are my options for escalating this issue with Ford?

it's too long a delay for plant damage. I suspect rail damage and a long turn around.
there are way more in plant repairs than you might imagine. new fresh parts, perfect matching paint and expert techs.
they don't do unibody repair, new roofs etc. doors, hoods, fenders etc yes.

Why not pass on the 23 and put in an order for a 24? If it has taken this long to 'fix' it why would you trust it?

I have a 2024 order in. I'm not thrilled about paying more and getting a lower trim level.

The repair if on the body can potentially bite you in the buttocks. A repair that I bought a long time ago rusted, it didn’t line up correctly, the paint didn’t match etc.
When it was repaired they didn’t replace the damaged gas tank. It leaked every time I filled it up. I was not aware that the vehicle had been wrecked or would not have bought it.

any repairs done before first retail sale will not show up on carfax and a '23 definitely will be cheaper than a '24.

if I were the OP I'd probably put in an order for a '24 asap to make sure you get something, at some point. since it's a hybrid it will be hard to find one for a reasonable value, besides placing a new order, but if I needed a new truck sooner I'd spend some time searching inventory.

I would never take delivery on such a vehicle in your situation. You paid for new and undamaged you should get it. Let Ford take the hit, not you.

If it is repairable, it will be sold to someone. Ford won't take a hit (other than the repair costs)

The only experience we have had with something like this is on a Bronco that made it to KC and then we were told that vin was being crushed. I think it must have been damage coming off the rail and couldn't deliver it. I don't know if they rebuilt it because the customer took an in stock Bronco instead that was very similar to his build. I will say that if there was frame damage they would have crushed the vehicle. If they are "repairing" it, I'm sure it is getting a whole new unibody shell. But it will be perfect when it leaves that plant or they won't allow it to go out.

I'm going to try to contact FORD again. The scary thing is that this is the first time my dealer/me are being told anything. I can virtually guarantee that nobody at fors customer service will have any information or even be aware of the damage. Whether they repair my vehicle or offer a rebate on my 2024 order. I feel like Ford should offer me something. I should have had this vehicle by now.

I once bought a car on the cheap because it had transit damage on the way to the dealer. no one else wanted it and they discounted it a lot for me. They had pics of the damage and it was the shark fin and some paint scratches on top near the fin. Easy repair. So I saved lots of $$$.

They should at least show you pics of the damage and discount the truck to you. With pics then you can determine if it no big deal like mine was or not.

Have you contacted Ford directly about this yet? I would let them know what is happening and then they might discount the '24 to make things better for you. I would at least want to have them discount the '24 by the cost of the hybrid.

You don't own it the dealer does. Just cancel the order and order a new one. They should at least give you a private offer for the hassle.

Ford definitely knows what happened to that truck, it's just a matter of how much of that information is available to the Ford marketing customer service person you're going to talk to.
