I wouldn't touch it unless it's out of warranty, they will say it's your fault, am sure.
My next day off during the week I think I will try making some calls and see what results I get.

Had my roll-up Tonneau since June 2022 and I really like it, was the correct style for me.. No problem through all last summer, but this year the heat did cause adhesive failure on both sides (worst on passenger side) as seen in this posting. Pretty disappointing as expressed in this posting.

I ended up taking off the cover completely (only 4 nuts holding it on, 2 each side), laid top side down in my garage, removed the felt on both sided and masked the cover where the felt was attached to the cover.

Then, using some spray on adhesive (I used Gorilla® Heavy-Duty Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive) on both the underside of the cover and on the felt, reattached the felt strips. After letting it dry overnight, re-installed the cover.

Seems to have kept the felt in place for the last month. I think this is a "time will tell" to see if this is a permanent solution or not. But for now it works.

By the way, I also had a small gap between the tailgate and the cover that let in just a small amount of water when it rained or taking through a car wash. I came up with a solution that seems to correct most of the issue. Will post video of that later this week.

What does the felt do for it? Any reason not to remove it?
There’s a video on YouTube about this. I’ll try to find it again.
But basically, it’s just there because the metal is hot as hell in the summer. So it gives you something to touch the cover by that won’t burn your hands. There’s no other purpose. The newer models of that cover have a new design and don’t use that felt anymore it kept coming off.

edit: found the video. He’s using the same one as the ford one, it’s just not Ford branded. He ended up getting the new model after a couple warranty replacements and hasn’t had the issue anymore.

Mine did the same thing. In 2 days they installed a new tonneau cover with plastic instead of the felt. No Ford Logo.

That's good to know. I am going to call my next day off... probably Thursday... and see what options I have.

Ok... I called Ford Accessories.. first agent got disconnected after she put me on hold... Second agent was helpful. He said I needed to call the vendor (Advantage) or go by a dealership. I called the 800# he had given me. It was Truxedo. They said since it is Ford branded it has to be called in from a dealership. I went by the local dealership and spoke to parts... Parts had a huddle and said it had to go through service. Service Agent was perplexed and got Service Manager. Service Manager took pictures and I emailed her my purchase confirmation since it had all the details. Now it is a wait and see.

Here is the update.... I see spoke to my local dealer again on the 14th. They told me they have ordered a new tonneau cover. I got a call yesterday telling me they will have a mobil mechanic bring it out to my workplace and swap the covers on Friday. I wasn't expecting that since I installed the first one myself. I am curious if this will have the updated liner.

It's done. Ford came out and replaced my tonneau cover. This is identical to my original one with the FORD logo that shows when it is rolled up.

I’m shocked as I heard they were no longer shipping these out due to all the adhesive issues. I thought they had removed the ford emblem and were shipping only ones with plastic hand guards instead of the felt. I’m in the process with my dealer right now. Hoping it’s an easy fix. The felt came completely off mine, my bigger concern is all of the seals and rubber moldings are coming off of mine as well.

I totally understand... I thought these were being replaced by newer models as well. The felt came completely off of mine. It just left a sticky residue. I do like the Ford emblem though. Guess we will see how long this one lasts.

That's why I did not get it. The upgrade model is much better, but could not get it with Ford points.

I'm still happy that Ford replaced mine. They treated me well.

We’re you able to confirm they are not shipping the newer version? I too have a bunch of points I would like to use for this unless it’s the felt version.

Good to hear that the dealer handled it well.

I was thinking about getting this bed cover but not too sure now. It's not cheap either. Need to start doing research in to alternatives.

This is just one of the sites. https://tonneaucoverguide.com/bak-revolver-x4-vs-x4s/

The OEM Ford is the Bak Revolver X4. The upgraded version is X4S, but no Ford version. Search for reviews in YT.
I purchased the Tuxedo Sentry CT from Real Truck (MaverickTruckClub Sponsor). So far, about a year, I have been very happy with it.
