Adjustable/Easily removable bed divider.

I like idea of bed divider but have hard time shelling $300 for OEM and seems like it is not to be easy removed.
I had two 2X6 in the slot, but it is heavy and in the fixed position.
Here is my solution. This takes 10 sec. to install or removed and it is adjustable the leigh of bed rails.
Made from leftovers I had in the house with some help from Amazon

Nice. I assume the feet arent screwed to the bed right. Just there on both side to keep it from tilting. You could probably do the same thing with a channel or angle bit mounted to the ends of your aluminum that goes over the side mounting rails and keeps it in place that way. Just have 1 side go toward the front and the other to the rear then it will remove easy still.

The factory bed divider is easy to take out and put in. It takes me maybe 10-15 seconds to do. Adjusting it is easier if you are in the bed and push from the middle. If you try to push from the sides you have to keep going back and forth and push each side a little at a time.

However your option will do the same thing and is way cheaper.

I've always wished that beds would be designed with sideways grooves at the bottom, say every foot, so that DIY dividers could drop right into those grooves and be nice and snug. Bed bottoms are usually just a stamping, so super easy for the OEM to do. Must be a good reason why they don't do that - maybe it would adversely affect bed stiffness?

What are the materials you used? I'm guessing that is some sort of light particle board, or is that like a rubber mat? And you use the 'L' brackets at the bottom, those are more to help it hang straight, right? Not drilled into the bed. Just wondering cause I like the look and functionality, and too do not have $300 to spend at Ford to get the OEM.

L-brackets are not screwed, they are just to keep divider vertically. Top part of the divider goes inside the rails and locked by latches.

You didn’t like two 2x6s did you ever try two 2x4s? Just curious. I don’t have bed rails.

Material used is 1/2 plywood and 1x3 wood on the top. 3/4 plywood would be better, but I did not have piece big enough. Top piece is painted with aluminum spray and clear coated, divider itself pained with bedliner spay. L-brackets on the bottom are not drilled - they just helping divider to stay vertically.

I did not realized this. By the look of it seems like you need tool to get it in/out. I guess Ford engineers are not stupid That was a fun project anyway

The ends of the divider are molded and go over the tie downs. All you have to do is tilt the divider forward or backwards and it will go on/off easily. Then to move it you slide the tie downs.

Ahh I see that it is made of wood. The paint made me think it was a piece of aluminum. I was thinking if it went out above and below the cargo rail it would be solid enough to keep it near vertical. Like a 3 pronged guide instead of the single one in this picture. Really as I think about it if you just made that thicker/wider (maybe 3 layers thick)just like you have it, it wouldn't be able to tilt off the vertical.
