On the surface, that's what it seems, especially for people who just read the headlines. On the other, in polls, people side with the UAW in 2 to 1 ratio, or up to 75%.

That is good, or at least that's what people that actually complete polls believe :ROFLMAO: . It points to a larger issue with the media landscape generally where the headline will be "UAW Demands 36% Wage Increase in Strike" implying an immediate raise, which sounds a lot different than "UAW Demands 9% wage increase each year over the next 4 years to compensate for prior 4 year wage freeze and projected inflation of 4% over the next 4 years which in reality level-sets their wage increases since the original wage freeze when adjusted for inflation" But that's rather hard to fit in a headline and less likely to get angry clicks.

I agree, but...

The mainstream media, or MSM, is not on side of the people, but they do know, that most people only read headlines. Most of them don't have time to dig into the details and may even suspect that the headline is misleading, but the headline will stick with them anyway. The MSM knows this...

I'm in the same boat. My 23 Lariat has been sitting in Mesquite for about a week. Final destination is Fort Worth. So close and yet, so far. Have you received any updates?
My dealer just called me this morning that my 2023 Maverick was just delivered to the dealership via the transport.

I will be picking it up tomorrow afternoon.

My Maverick only took 10 days from initial shipping from the factory to being delivered to the dealership.
Shipped 9/11/2023 - Delivered 9/21/2023.

It also beat the estimated delivery time that Ford said would be from 9/28/23 to 10/3/2023.

The 10 days also beat the 14 days that it took my MY22 Maverick to arrive in 2021.
Shipped 11/30/2021 - Delivered 12/13/2021.

I am not sure that the Teamster's honoring the strike is a big concern for us. very few truckers are Teamsters. What may become a big problem is that Customs closed the border to commercial train crossings yesterday afternoon. if your Mav is being shipped by train there may be a delay. This is due to the increase in illegal migrants crossing the border on trains. At this point they cannot say when they will allow crossings again. Most likely next week. There will be enormous pressure on them to reopen. So hopefully a short delay.

When you say "all in labor cost", that's hourly wage and benefits, correct? Knowing that the average UAW worker salary is 28.47, then the benefits package is 36.53 (65 - 28.47).

The 40% increase of the current average salary of 28.47 is 11.38, that would result in 39.85 average salary by the end of the four years contract. The close to three dollar per year wage increase isn't really much, probably won't keep up with the inflation, especially the ones what we are having lately.

Provided that the benefits are not changing by the end of the contract, then the "all in labor" cost would be 76.38 (39.85 + 36.53). Let's say that the benefits increased by 40% as well to 51.14, bringing the "all in labor cost" to 90.99. That would be hard to round up to 100, much less over a 100.

As stated earlier, "numbers don't lie, but people with numbers do..."
40% = 10%+10%+10%+10%
((((28.47x1.1)x1.1)x1.1)x1.1)=41.68 (not 39.85)
Gets closer but not quite there. Was it not 42% anyway not 40%????

As a follow-up to my own post several pages back, my dealer called me today to let me know my truck just arrived. They figured 1-2 days for prep/inspection, so probably this weekend or next week for me to take possession (unless they offer a really good deal to buy me out).

I would have flew to Hermosillo - seriously -
but they won't let you do that.
(Especially for $1,595 off)
Update on my previous post. CBP reopened the rail crossing at 1AM Eastern today. Barring any further migrants hitching rides on freight trains it should remain open.
