Yea and that would result in a 20% decrease in product output, wouldn't it?UAW is also asking for 20% reduction in work hours with 40 hr pay -- 40 hrs down to 32 hrs. This would require additional workers be hired and trained to maintain production since I believe UAW is also demanding no mandatory overtime. Pensions, job security guarantees, end to temporary workers, the whole enchilada.
I would have flew to Hermosillo - seriously -If Ford I’ll tell me which rail yard my truck is in, I’ll go to my dealer, do the paperwork, and go get my truck…if and when this scenario arises.
Then Ford and the rest of the big 3 should come to the table with better offers. The UAW took concessions when the economy was hurt last they negotiated. They are overdue a piece of the unprecedented profits the auto makers have reaped in the past few years. Do I think they walk away from this with 46% pay increases, 32 hour work weeks, pensions for new hires, and an end to the tier system? No. But I don't blame the union for standing their ground to get more.Yeah lets hit the American economy while it's down as we head from recession to depression. Lets impede the Covid recovery as much as possible. This could cost the economy billions of dollars. Great strategy.
The only problem with that is their insurance company won't let them allow untrained people to pick things up. Too much risk for them.If Ford I’ll tell me which rail yard my truck is in, I’ll go to my dealer, do the paperwork, and go get my truck…if and when this scenario arises.
Again read the article, the teamsters will not cross picket lines. no line, no stoppage. With the UAW “strategic“ strike, the only Ford plant on strike right now is Wayne, Michigan. It makes Rangers nd Broncos. Will the Teamsters refuse to haul any Ford product from anyplace to anyplace? If the UAW doesn’t want to shut down absolutely, will the Teamsters hold the same philosophy?
