A bit concerned with the 63sq ft frontal load. Everything else seems manageable -

Thx

The impact from the frontal area will be dependent upon wind/speed. Drive slower or with a tailwind to lessen.

Kind of wondering if 70 miles per hour would be too taxing ?

Also, Ford heavily advertised the Maverick pulling the Lance 1475. You can see that photo sometimes at the top of this site.

The exterior width of that is 84" and the interior height is 80".

84*80/12^2 = 46.67 SQ FT.

Using the exterior height...

84*123/12^2 = 71.75 SQ FT.

I think that you trailer probably isn't far off from the frontal area of the Lance 1475.

Yes- I remember that trailer stress test- I know you also calculate a deduction of the open space under the trailer and not the maximum exterior height alone.

If you have the 4K tow package, I believe the frontal load consideration is 40 sqft. The MAV itself covers about 35 sqft. Your 63 sqft trailer load less the MAV's 35 sqft would render you 28 sqft of of trailer frontal load. That puts you under the 40 sqft load consideration for the trailer.

In the first calculation I used the interior height and it still exceeded 40 SQ FT.

It must be SQ FT remaining after the Mavericks SQ FT as others have posted above.

As ejouie said, Ford shows in its ads the MAV towing the Lancer. Ford has also showed the MAV towing the airstream basecamp. I think most travel trailers under the 4K GVWR should be OK.

It doesn't. It is a separate number. between the tailgate and front of trailer almost none of the air will be blocked. A cap will help some because the air will be straighter coming over the cab. Without the cap the air comes over the cab, down over the tail gate and straight into the nose of the trailer. See below pic. I added a cap on my 13 F150 that pulled 3,000-3,500 in a small 4X6 enclosed V nose trailer. MPG went from 14.7 to 19.3 at 70-75mph after the change.
