Don't forget the breakaway switch. Hopkins has a model 20050 that is smaller than most and easier to hide.
Doing away with all the electrical connections and braking systems. Using the Ready Brake Elite II towbar with built in mechanical surge brake.
You run a cable from towbar to connection in front of the Maverick. Clip that in place and auxiliary braking is done. NO inside setup each time you hook up. That also means you don't have that $%^&#@ brake thing in the floor when you want to start the Maverick at rest stops. The Breakaway system is also cable operated, another cable is clipped into that. Pic shows my Blue Ox baseplate installation and the red eye loop is the breakaway cable attachment. Other pic of silver loop is the regular braking hookup.
I used the Blue Ox Patriot for about 10 years. I really think it more of a joke than actual braking. Sure, it will apply if you hit the brakes hard and for a long time. But it takes so long to actually push the brake pedal down that I feel it is really just there to make me legal. This Ready Brake system should actually apply the brakes more or less immediately.

It does, even if you don’t have the app on. I tested it by letting air out of one tire. Sent me a message at about 28 lbs of pressure.
OK, @Donald . Please educate me as to how you did that.

I dropped my front passenger tire slowly to 23PSI. Waited, I got nothing. Eventually, the Fordpass App showed the 23 PSI (without moving the truck), but still no sort of alert, even when looking at Vehicle Status on the FordPass App.

I'd love that, as previously stated, but zero, zip, nada from my 2023 Lariat Lux.

Has anyone flat towed a Maverick yet? I’m hoping to get mine by the 2nd of June and I bought it to tow behind my RV.
Don
In the middle of our first long trip. Typical day is 300 miles. After 3 legs the Maverick has had a dead battery. Using Air Force One and Blue Ox. Safety issue in that with dead battery the vehicle cannot be put in park or the emergency brake cannot be engaged. Hoping to get an answer as to what is causing the dead battery.

Do you have a diode-protected charge wire (like a Toad-charge) connected to your Maverick? If no diode, your RV batteries could be taking from the Maverick.

If your coach sat with the toad attached for a very long time....that MIGHT cause it to drain the toad battery. But on a trip there really is no way for that to happen. Unless the charging system on the coach went down.
I installed a charge line on my Maverick. Will know tomorrow how that goes. I did install a diode. Had to redo that connection as I had the diode backward. Shows 12.7 volts with no tow cable. With tow cables in place and coach running I am getting 13.5 volts. That should keep it from running down, no matter what is causing it. I suspect there is simply too much drain from the computer and other systems while in flat tow mode. A little help from the coach and that headache should be fixed.

On the flat towing question- I towed my Maverick hybrid yesterday with the motorhome. Instructions are easy and tows gracefully. Looking forward to extended travel. And at 4000 lbs. you feel it back there. I have proportional braking. Airforce 1. Worked great with the Ford Escape fwd we had for 10 years.

I also used Blue Ox equipment with the lower valance replaced with the FX4 type. Minimal cutting and besides it looks better!

Demco has promised to start shipping their baseplate soon.... I check Demco and Etrailer daily, but they said they should start this next week.

What towbar are you using with that Blue Ox baseplate?

With the same set up as Joseph G, I'm now using the Blue Ox Aluminum Ascent Tow Bar. Had the 10,000 lb. Avail but too heavy for my weary 75 year old body and definitely not needed for TopGun. Also went to the lighter duty cables and have made a big difference in the weight of my tow bag, especially now with the "short" knuckles instead of the "long" ones I used on my Cherokee. Very happy with the change and the weight savings of the vehicles as well.
