That cheap looking metal key plate was looking more and more like a zit to me.
Chrome trim blackout tape fixed it.

LMAO Sounds like my college years where I would drunkenly put bumper stickers on random cars, whoopsWay easier than plasti dipping it.
Cut and paste.
I bought that trim tape several vehicles ago. The most I ever used was for the chrome grill trim on my Subaru Crosstrek. Still had lots left over.
The brand I bought was Shadowline. The stuff is high quality. Never peeled, ripped or faded all the years I had it on the grill facia. Lots of automated car washes never touched it.
Anytime I see a bright bit I don’t like on a vehicle I try sticking this stuff on it, even if it’s not my car.
Hope the owners appreciate my trouble and effort.
looks like my local autozone has something called Trimbrite Ill give it a try!Looks like this brand isn’t available anymore.
Too bad, it was super high quality.
Must be something else out there, 3M maybe?
They sell lots of cheap stuff on Amazon…..
I just left to get some whiskey and when I was walking back to my truck....I was like"I wonder if Blazer did the locks on front doors"...or maybe the higher up mavericks don't have a key hole. IDKThat cheap looking metal key plate was looking more and more like a zit to me.

Driver door on the Lariat has a keyhole. It's needed in the event the battery in the key fob is dead and you need to manually enter (there is even a place to put the dead key that allows the truck to still read it to start). And the tailgate also has a keyhole. Both look just like what the OP shared.I just left to get some whiskey and when I was walking back to my truck....I was like"I wonder if Blazer did the locks on front doors"...or maybe the higher up mavericks don't have a key hole. IDK
I'm going to do them all on my XL
Was this on the tailgate lock? Did you do it to all the locks? That cheap looking metal key plate was looking more and more like a zit to me.

Read the post again.Trim tape?
OK, I wasn’t going to do this, but enough of you brought it up that I couldn’t leave it alone.![]()
Blacked out the driver door handle lock key plate.
Yes, it was harder to do than the tailgate lock.
Pulling the handle out, like you're opening the door, and a pair of tweezers helped placement.
Edit:
Cut it out, peel & stick the film.
