Well, for me that would be good news... maybe I will actually get the 2024 EB Lariat I ordered. :)

Personal feelings aside, the hyper-speed market correction we're watching is really interesting.

Ford launched a product that was way underpriced for the market. Dealerships and flippers jumped on the arbitrage and collected the profit. Ford's not going to leave that money on the table, so it's increased dealer costs and MSRP to redirect profits back home. That should also balance demand with production capacity, especially as the resale market cools.

At the same time, there could be a significant bump in available supply in Q1 and Q2 as people who ordered multiples (or ordered a replacement for an existing Mav), sell the extras or release custom orders to the dealer.

Did Ford over correct? Will we see the return of dealer-lot negotiations and buyer incentives? Or are we at the sweet spot of price and production.

I'm curious to watch it unfold.

What if you borrow the entire amount and sell the truck before you ever make a payment?
You can't sell the truck without the title. And no title without full payment. Only way is for the new buyer to take over your loan and the truck.

Don't forget the affordability is impacted by higher interest rates, 7% on the Ford build and price along with the price increase.

I love my Cactus Gray XLT, but wife really hates the physical key and wants the smart entry/pushbutton start. So, Lariat here we go... $$$$$$$

My MY23 fully-loaded HPR Lariat is about $600 cheaper for MY24, but there are also a couple options/features no longer included (keyless entry keypad, body color mirrors, windshield wiper deicer).

Bob, I've always wondered... why do you spell commodore wrong? Was/is it a typo?
Heh, in 2010, I was trying to find a username for an online game. I intended to use CommodoreBob, but I flat out misspelled it and didn't realize it until I got the confirmation email. System was not set up to change usernames at the time, so I just stuck with it as I had already paid for my sub with that username.

I was active in that community and about a year later, a member of that game's forum made the logo you see for me (the comma with spiral). So, I decided to roll with it...

Not true. You just sell to another dealer. You sign limited power of attorney and release title to them. They send payoff to bank. DOT sends released title directly to them. And you walk away with check for whatever the difference is between what you owed and what they paid you for the vehicle.

This is done every day.

Back October 2021, order a Lariat with the full Lux pkge back then (in 2023 Ford broke out SIBL and other stuff , which is all now standard) had a October 2022 Delivery MRSP of $34,120 with moonroof and Alto Blue $395 charge. My daughter ordered a Lariat for 2024 with moonroof and no special color for $36.725. Not bad, 3k increase for cumulative 2 Model Years.

The Toyota ordering style with few options, is a big impact for not wanting all those new standard features. People do post about nice seat options available in real leather, but not the push button start and power rear window.

Think your wife will be happy. Do enjoy the B&O and adaptive cruise control with lane centering aka 360 co-pilot assist.

If the private offer is determined by YoY base price then buyers with a 23 Lariat base order will be getting a great deal on their 24 rollover. Essentially they would be getting a lot of 2023 options free…
I'm about 99.9% confident that won't happen.

I'm only about 80% sure that people with MY23 Lariat base and MY23 XLT non-lux with BAP who all 'have' to move into MY24 Lariat Lux or XLT Lux will have to pay full price to upgrade to the lux packages. It's possible that Ford will discount lux a little bit to soften the blow, but I doubt it.

Spoke with the sales managers at two locations Wednesday morning. One had 136 allocations and said they had people in line waiting for the doors to open Monday and were bombarded with rollover orders. But after that things slowed down and they still had about 35 allocations left. This dealer sells at MSRP and only asks $100 for deposit. The other dealer had 60 allocations, sells at $2,500 over MSRP and asks for a $500 deposit. They still had allocations left, though I don’t know the exact number.

There are many reasons for this but I wonder how much buyer fatigue has to do with it? Buying a car shouldn’t involve this much drama. But if Ford does do any kind of refresh for 2025 I can just imagine the price increase that comes with it. Regardless of how it goes with 2024 builds, I see the Hybrids holding their resale value for awhile.
I honestly think their planned worked. They needed to quell demand and no other manufacturers were competing. They also need to start actually making a profit on Mavericks. The margins are still insanely slim, even with the new pricing.

I added this to my OP. Not trying to spam but it’s definitely relevant to this thread.
