Broken Inner Bumper Trim - Possible Warranty Issue?

2023 Hybrid, 5300 miles. When I went out to my truck this morning I noticed middle part of the inner bumper trim (by the active grill shutters) has shattered. I have never taken the truck off pavement (yet), and have never had any sort of frontal impact or road hazard incident in this vehicle.

Why and how would this trim shatter? Have any of you seen this on your Mavericks?

I'd also like to hear if anyone has had luck having similar pieces replaced under warranty? I'll talk to the Ford dealership later this week. I hope it won't make a difference, but I didn't purchase locally due to prices being out of hand in Northern VA.

(If the vehicle were a few years older I'd cover the crack with a piece of Gorrilla Tape and call it a day, but I'm not ready to accept beater status for this vehicle yet...)

Gorrilla tape it is. I'll replace the plastic bit myself if I can get one - but not until I have a reason to de-trim the bumper.

(go figure that a bumper to bumper warranty doesn't actually cover a shattered bumper trim with no other signs of impact --- but agree that road debris is most likely. I do have a highway commute)

As someone who does a lot of highway driving, I’ve been concerned with that bottom grill and the large openings allowing rocks to potentially cause damage. Hopefully, someone will develop an aftermarket screen to prevent debris from coming in.

Some subtle version of the billet grille I had for many years on this truck's predecessor - at least to fill in the large gaps - would be a welcome improvement.
