I’ve been hauling U-Haul 6x12’s pretty regularly moving stuff from my old house to the new one.

Three trailers ago there wasn’t an attendant so I had to do my own functional check. I noticed I didn’t have running lights. I chalked it up to the trailer, but I’ve had the same issue in the last three I’ve picked up as well.
The indicator on the display says brake and running check out, but that isn’t the reality.

i haven’t had time to test at the connector, but I suspect it’a not the trailers.

Test the connector then lol. Not much else to be done before that... Keep picking up trailers expecting different results when it's clearly not the case. You should have checked it before your 2nd visit after you noticed it. It's not hard to do. If you have the time to hook up a trailer, you have the time to check your connections, which you seem to know are not functioning properly.

Not sure what the purpose of this post was or what response you expected... Get it done.

If I had a tester handy, yes it would be quick to do, but I didn't. The purpose was to see if anyone else outside of the recall window had the same issue.

Thanks for adding nothing to the conversation, and congradulations on your +1 post count.

Then ask that next time.

You know what you need to do, and it's not pick up another trailer expecting different results. The TSB exists because people had the issue. Search function to find existing threads. Your post was just you saying you had an issue and kept ignoring it. You didn't ask any questions.

I would start with fuse #37 underhood, that is the trailer tow running lights circuit.

No, actually I didn’t ignore it. I monitored it. Since U-Haul verifies the function of their equipment, it’s actually pretty safe to say the issue has been narrowed to the truck.

My truck falls outside of the recall window.
Thanks again for adding nothing.

Monitoring it without checking the connection after the first failure?

Seems negligent. I think it was safe to say you failed to check something simple after seeing the failure on the first trailer and continued to do the same thing. As soon as you hooked up the next trailer it was safe to say your troubleshooting method was narrowed down to something you should have done the first time.

You started the thread... Not me. Monitoring something so easily checked knowing there is a TSB for that issue and you picked up 3 trailers after the fact, asked no questions in your post and have no information about your truck being outside of the recall window in the same post yet you just expected people to weigh in with what? Well, your suspicion is right. Time to actually solve it. Check the connection and the fuses like you shoulda done 3 trailers ago.

If I hadn't extracted that info out of you trying to figure out what you were posting about, nobody would know what you are story telling for. All you did was say "I've done this 3 times now". The end. Sorry man. I don't understand it or this forums need to start a new random thread for everything. If anything, you added to your post count until we finally figure out those two vital pieces of info you left out.

Another reason is I have no sympathy for a lack of troubleshooting. You are pulling a trailer regularly and if the lights don't work what is the plan of action? If it has been the brake lights or the turn signals would you just give it 3 more tries? Renting equipment you need to be able to troubleshoot and solve an issue on the fly or simply don't rent it. Unless you have U-Haul verify and inspect the trailer in front of you, are you just taking their word for it? Judging by the lack of info in your first post, it's a safe assumption that answer is yes. But it actually doesn't matter because you knew it was your equipment malfunctioning, not theirs.

Maybe learn to disclose more info and questions in your threads if you want help instead of just a story about your poor troubleshooting methods with zero other info. Do you see the problem now? Cuz you didn't see it on the first 3 trailers either... Maybe 2 more threads outta do it.

Talk about contributions... Jeez.

Ask dealer to verify the TSB window does not need to be opened further!

Go to local auto parts store (or Walmart) and find one of these and try it. That would help determine if it is the truck as a whole or just your connector. Might have a bent pin.

I checked with my Fluke, and I got really low voltage. I also looked under the hood, and the fuse box doesn't have any fuses... Just two large connectors.

I hope it is something simple, I don't want dealership hacks butchering the wiring on my truck.

Worst case scenario, I do what I'm doing now; towing during daylight.

Recall was for the tail lamps and I think running lights run on that same circuit in the trailer. Recall period was for trucks built from November 23, 2022, through February 10, 2023. Couldn't hurt to swing by dealer and let them know at least. Ford may expand recall with enough evidence.

Please refer to your Owners manual to see where the fuses are located,,,,

Once you remove the top cover (exposing the two large connectors) the underhood junction box flips open further; the fuses are on the underside beneath another cover.

But you could also remove the large connector closest to the engine and inspect to see if Cavity 33 is populated (Step 9 & 10). That is the wire that is missing on the recall-affected vehicles. You could also remove the cover (Step 9), reconnect the connector, and check to see if that circuit has power when the running lights are on.

Well, checked all of the fuses and verified the wire is present in location 33 of the connector. Still no running lights.

I guess it's headed to the dealer

Well, that sucks. Hope the dealer has a Tech that can figure it out.
