I’ve had over 25,000 trouble free miles with my hybrid in one year. I tend to think if my truck had a bad cable that it would’ve raised its ugly head by now. Y’know, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. I also do not trust the dealer parts replacer to do the job correctly. Man, I’m gonna think on this one for awhile.
..
Mine went just past a year and 12000 miles before that battery cable came loose. Was working fine until closed the door in the driveway and then it was dead as a door nail.

Yeah, that stinks. I’ve decided to have it done, along with the air bag recall and reprogramming of the brakes. Parts will be in by end of week.

Well, I may have helped nudge Ford into this non-recall, recall after using their complimentary roadside service to have it towed to my dealer 25 miles away. All for what turned out to be a cable that came loose from the battery. lol

Have mine scheduled for next Wednesday for the CSP. Will try to get them to replace the 12v battery as well, as it sits at 12.3 volts soon after a full night's charge and goes into deep sleep regularly.

Got the '68 motor rebuilt and put back in so at least I have something to drive as they don't provide a loaner.

Told them I did not want the airbag or the grill shutter recall done.

My truck just hit 25,000km (canada) with no issues other than airbag recall and heat exchanger, and just received this letter in the mail yesterday
i booked an appt online and they called and said this was an extended warranty thing not a recall but they got 'authorization' to do the job anyway so they ordered the cable and said it will be a few weeks to come from the states

I have an appointment in a week to have them look at my non-functioning gas door button. I'll call in the morning and see if they can get the part in time to do this one, too.

Got the email, called dealership. They said they need to inspect the cable and will only replace it if it's bad. Geez, I thought they were all made with the same crappy solder connection, at least the ones in the stated date range. I don't have the no start condition, but had the deep sleep really bad. Had it into the dealer three times and they couldn't fix it. Requested they replace the 12v battery. It's been two months since it was replaced and no deep sleep. I suspect the cable is flaky. Has anybody had the dealer not replace the cable under 22B39?
Therein lies the issue with this "Customer Satisfaction Program 22B39", the dealership told you they needed to inspect it and only replace if bad. That's the same BS answer I got from multiple Ford dealership service departments regarding the similar TSB 22-2340 No-crank/no start when they couldn't duplicate it based on the "wiggle test" which as an engineer, I find vague and unquantified.

This "overlay" is likely a cost-effective alternative to the full harness replacement. Having dealerships continuing to question owners affected by this defect is adding insult to injury, rubbing salt into a festering wound. This should have been a RECALL.

Amazing having to jump start the vehicle six months after discussing the problem with the dealer and the "Ford Motor Company" account.

Dropped mine off today for the CSP. Asked them last week if they had the part, and they said oh we should order the part when they send the service notice over to the service department.

Asked them again today when I dropped it off if they had the part and they said not sure and that they'd have my vehicle for at least 3 to 4 days.

I'm not sure why they have you make a service appointment for Wednesday morning when they can't even look at it till possibly Friday?

YOUR DEALERSHIP IS WRONG: I am a Ford technician and here is the literature as written that we receive, available to any Ford service department in the country through what is called the PTS website : "SERVICE ACTION Before demonstrating or delivering any new in-stock vehicles involved in this program, dealers are to install a new 12V battery cable overlay and disable the current battery cable. This service must be performed on all affected vehicles at no charge to the vehicle owner. " as you can see, the last sentence in the statement clearly says it must be performed on ALL affected vehicles. Furthermore, if you have already received your owner notification letter, it also states " In the interest of customer satisfaction, Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to install a new 12V battery cable overlay free of charge (parts and labor) under the terms of this program. This Customer Satisfaction Program will be in effect until June 30, 2024 regardless of mileage. Coverage is automatically transferred to subsequent owners." **** this is not a recall that will stay open until performed, as also stated above, Ford will replace this cable once for free up until June 30, 2024 for any vehicle affected under this program. That list of affected vehicles includes Maverick built from July 26th, 2021 up to May 13, 2022. If you have any further problem with your dealership not wanting to perform this for you, message me and I will send you this official documentation so you can show them before you shove it up their tailpipe lol

The 12V battery cable is replaced under this program. Pays 3.7 hours. (So will probably take 5-6 hours until the tech has done a bunch of them!)
My dealer now says they need my truck for three days to do this repair. When I called two weeks ago, they were stating they needed the truck for 5 days.

Ford lowered labor to pay just a little over 2 hours.... I'm sure it will actually take them considerably longer than that the first few that they do!

I'm sure they are just being conservative/cautious about the time, since the actual time it will take the tech is unknown.

I dropped my truck off Wednesday after scheduling the appointment the week before. Called them today and they've just now ordered the part and said it will be in mid next week, estimated of course.
If I had known this I would have not brought it in until they ordered the part, or went to a different dealer.

Debating calling or going up there tomorrow and telling them I'll take my truck back until the part comes in.

Definitely make it their problem and not yours
