I was torn about bringing my Maverick in for the airbag recall due to all the horror stories, but I figured taking photos beforehand would cover me in case something happened . Well, it turns out that was a very wrong assumption. After getting my vehicle back from the dealership I noticed there were several scratches, smudges, and, worst of all, there was a burn mark right above the driver-side vent. The burn mark is definitely more noticeable in person. Just as a note, neither my fiancé nor I smoke at all and no one else who has ridden in the car smokes.

I called the next day since I had picked it up after hours and voiced my concerns without mentioning that I had photos. They had me drop it back off and brought it to their third-party detailer to see if they could buff everything out...not sure how you are going to buff a burn mark out but whatever. I thought, wow, they are really going to take responsibility for the damage. They must have known they caused this damage. I finally heard back a week later that they couldn't get buff everything out, and that was was the excuses started to flood in. They said it looks like there was a dog running on the dash, we don't put any tools on the dash, we don't use any heat sources when doing this recall, and blah blah blah. As a note, I do have a 50-pound dog who gets buckled in the back, sits on a doggy mat that covers the whole back seat, and couldn't fit on the dash even if she wanted to. In the end, I don't care too much about the scratches (still pisses me off that they blamed me) even though they are 6-8 inches long. I care more about the hideous burn mark. I then brought up that I had photos of the morning I dropped it off and photos from the moment I picked it up.

The service director called back and continued the blame game saying how they don't use any tools that would cause the burn marks and nothing gets put on the dash during service and blah blah blah. I told him that I had photos, and that is when he started to question me on why I took photos before dropping the truck off. I was almost at a loss for words and couldn't believe it lol. So let me get this straight, if I didn't take photos, you would have blamed me and said the damage already existed, but, because I took photos, that is suspect and you still blame me? Long story short, they won't be doing anything to fix the problem and said tough luck we didn't do it.

Does anyone have any suggestions on the next steps if they won't take responsibility? Will anyone at corporate assist in a matter like this? Should I consider small claims court? I plan to file a BBB complaint even though I don't expect that to yield much.

Sorry for the long post...I just had to vent a little.

You had to vent a little, no pun intended? 😁 I would take it up with Ford corporate at the very least. Leave them a bad review on Google. Maybe one of the service techs brushed it with a cigarette? Regardless, that is unacceptable. I’d be fuming mad. 😡

Should just be a normal picture. That was the before picture and the second is the after picture. Dealership said it was probably the light playing tricks, so that's why there is no damage in the first photo.

That looks more like an impact mark to me and not a "burn".

Calling it a burn mark is giving them an excuse.

Yea, I suppose it could be. When I first got the truck back, the texture really resembled melted plastic, but it definitely could be an impact mark from someone dropping a tool or something. However, they made it crystal clear that they would never cause that type of damage...it had to be there prior. Seems pretty clear to me showing them a picture of no damage that morning and damage upon receiving the truck back that the damage happened while in the care of their dealership.

i doubt corporate will do anything But a Google review should get some results. I ended up with a new headliner, dash, glove box, door trim and pillar pieces after I answered their survey and posted my Google review. Good luck🤞🏻

Yea, I'll definitely be leaving a google review. I've been waiting for the GM to call me back still, so I'm hoping that conversation goes differently. Appreciate the suggestion.

I think you mean Ford 😊 If you sent VIN and dealer info as a reply to the earlier post, good luck, I hope they call you. I submitted my info and never heard back.

You took photos at the recommendation of other forum members whose vehicles got soiled/damaged.
I heeded that advice too, and likewise, was able to contribute additional photos of a trashed interior.:

Show them these if they question "Why did you take photos?"

(at least the dealership that did mine owned the problem)

Yea, I mentioned to the service director that I took the photos because of the Maverick forums. His response "I haven't heard of any problems. Still seems odd you decided to take photos before giving us your truck." I wasn't getting anywhere with him. He would continually repeat that they couldn't have caused the damage and kept asking why I took photos...this is the level of customer service I've been dealing with.

Sadly I wish I had never had this recall done. I knew better but I went ahead and had it done. Of course multiple broken pieces and a hole in my headliner from a slipped screwdriver. Now I have to hold my breath while it’s disassembled to install new headliner. Word is the front seats and center console have to be removed.
