Adding gas with gas can

I get that it’s not hard to use but Why did they have to make something simple one step harder. What’s the benefit

It benefits the 99.9% of people that fill it up at the pump. No hassle of the gas cap. Sure, removing and replacing the cap isn't hard, but why do it when you don't have to?

As someone posted a link earlier, it also serves as a deterrent to potential fuel thieves. There’s is a mechanism inside the flap that makes it harder to stick anything other than the designated sized pump nozzle in to siphon gas.

Harder to siphon as well. This may be new to you, but it's not new to vehicles using capless systems.

No one wants to admit to this, but somebody "may have" accidentally left the gas cap at the gas station "maybe once or twice" in my 50+ years of driving. (prior sentence meant to be read in jest).

Plus using the cap-less design prevents a loose gas cap from throwing an emission code in modern vehicles.

I'll admit being skeptical of this design for years, but since not hearing of major issues I now like it.

Its also designed like this for epa to keep gas fumes from escaping.so you definitely don’t want to tamper with it.yes,being 72 i think alot of the junk on new cars and trucks is ridiculous.no shifter being number one

Ford started using the Easy Fuel capless fuel filler on the 2009 Explorer. Nothing new.

I've heard that over time, dirt can accumulate on the seals of Ford's capless sytem and cause slow leaks that turn on your MIL light, and it's difficult to access those areas for cleaning since they're internal. Until I can come up with something better, I fold a clean shop towel in quarters and cover the end of the pipe before closing the filler door over it (hybrid model). I don't see much rain so this should work for a while. I will probably get a locking cover at some point to replace it. Yeah, I would prefer an ordinary cap too, but then I fix all my own stuff so I like things simpler than most customers who love fancy software-operated gadgets...

Get this at a parts store or amazon.DON,T cut the flaps out!look in the truck all over,should be one in the truck.

I'll look for it. I know that the "main one Ford has is reported not to work". Someone reported that he found one that would.
