NO it is the other way around according to consumer/report ford how ever did change the size of the planetary gear to there design but the rest of the trans and the engine/HYBRID is toyota not the other way around !!!!
What I said is correct. I was there in 2004 and 2005. Did you even read what I said? Re-read. The newest version of the Prius is different.

The E-CVT is not a cvt transmission, The E-CVT is electronic and has one main "PLANETARY-GEAR" that is "CONTROLED" by two electronic/module's these module's tell it what "RATIO" to get in when it is going up a hill and or when it is passing or just flat out flying, The "RATIO" is determined by two "ELEC/MODULE'S" And has no"BELTS" and or no moving parts in it other than the "PLANETORY-GEAR" The "HYBRID"-ENGINE" and the "E-CVT" transmission if you want to call it that is design by "TOYOTA" and is a very reliable and dependable drive train that TOYOTA used int it early "PREVAS" Model "FORD-MTR-COMPANY" Signed a license agreement for this several years back. So according to "CONSUMER/REPORT" this is a very reliable combonation and well proven, and that this has been put into other ford model over the years now like the ford ford/escapt!!! the only diff is the Maverick "HYBRID" has been built in Mexico and they are having quilty control issue's with that plant in Mexico so in late Aprill they moved all the Maverick HYBRID-ENGINE bact to there plant here in the great U.S. for quilty control hopefully this will take care of the engine/fire reclls all mavericks being built since may and june now have U. S. Engines/HYBRID in them and there is a sticker to this effect attached to the side window no that the E-CVT Trans and the HYBRID Engine is built in the U. S.
Thanks for posting. I knew most but I did not know it was developed by Toyota

It really wasn't. That part is myth.
Ford and Toyota BOTH developed their own hybrid transmissions in house. Toyota beat Ford to market by a few years.

The two companies SHARE technologies that are very similar.

The new generation five Prius (2023) is very much alike with a Maverick.

Horsepower, torque, vehicle weight, accelerations are almost the same.
Sedan, "almost sporty" body for 2023 vs 4 door pickup. But more same than different under the hood.

I'm looking for the source, but I read Toyota licensed some tech from Ford for the 2023 Prius.

There's also this aftermarket conversion.😉

(just kidding, it's obviously home grown)

This is cringe.

I knew it would be just by the title.

"Facts" used in a title that way - instant red flag. Especially in all caps.

I tired to distract myself with a genuine reply out of the gate. I see now that was a mistake.

All hope is lost. Abandon thread.

To be specific, an image of the ENGINE sticker on the nose end of the cam cover would show the location of the assembly factory where the engine was assembled.
If anyone has a hybrid with a sticker that shows other than CHEP, please take a picture and we can all go home. I suspect there will be no image showing that the engines were assembled in the Cleveland plant, which I believe is where some 2.0 ecoboosts are assembled. I believe that all Maverick 2.0 ecoboosts are from Valencia, SP.
I read(somewhere, and who can keep track of that...?) that Ford licensed some Toyota electronic control technology, in particular the management of power/regen/charging/etc. I also understood from similar sources that the CVTe was developed in-house. It is similar to the previous CVTm but no parts interchange(AFAIK).
There are two-three YT videos on how the CVTe works, and descriptions of all the bits'n'pieces and comparison to previous models. A professor rolls around in his chair, moving and describing how they work, and I think does a close compare with previous models. My take was the CVTe was new, not the normal belt/ribbon driven, and it had not been offered previously. My personal take is that the 1)motors in lock-up do not like it, and 2)electronics to handle the power of motors must be very robust, to withstand the large currents involved. I had regretted getting the 8-speed ecoboost, but have come to appreciate it and am still happy with the power, and close to over the moon about highway fuel economy, having gotten over 39mpg on at least one tankful, and 34 on the first fill.
Some complain about the boost's engine noise, and I find I cannot hear it at idle when stopped by a traffic signal. .. and no, the AutoSS is not involved, as it is dysfunctional most times.

I find it interesting that with all this debate, no one has yet provider a photo of a Maverick hybrid engine with a made in USA sticker.

Baldguy said he personally saw three different vehicles with the "Made in USA" information, so it is on him, IMO, to come up with the underhood shot of the engine sticker with the appropriate engine plant code that backs up his statement. But, he has demurred to this date.
Elusive as the Maverick itself... more or less.

Indeed, all we have are reports of PCI stickers claiming an engine of US origin yet the engine itself is labeled CHEP (Chihuahua Engine Plant, the same place even previous versions of the same engine were built).

If anyone's Maverick Hybrid's engine says anything other than CHEP on the spot referenced in the other thread, please share! We'd all love to learn something new.

He seems convinced that the parts content info breakdown sticker can never be wrong... All he has to do is look at the engine itself, take a picture that shows something other than CHEP, and we'll all praise him for being the one to crack this case wide open!
