By now most of you experience what I do when I'm running errands with my Mav. More often than not, someone in the parking lot will say "Hey, can I talk to you about your Maverick?" People just can't get enough of it.

Today, a lady flagged me down. She pointed to her Santa Cruz and said she tried to buy a Mav, but of course, there were none to be had. It was her first time seeing one in the flesh and she was smitten. It was clear she had to settle for second best.

Kind of the way my wife feels about me! :) Seriously though, I have had a few SC owners stare down my Mav. I don't know what they are thinking, but I sometime believe, it may be one of buyer's remorse!

In 8 months I have only had 1 person ask about my Maverick. Most people don't even notice or give a second look.

Wow. I'm surprised. I feel like my Mav is a rockstar with all the attention it gets.

I've only had a small handful ask me about it - maybe half a dozen - since last April when I bought it. And it's been months since the last time.

I'm in Montana and I'd be shocked if even one person approached me about the Maverick, ever. Up here it's truck nuts hanging from a 2500 and punisher skull stickers... They would rather tailgate me and pass dangerously over 100mph on rural single lane highways because "not a truck" and they just have to be in front with their single digit MPG.

I love my state, but I'm surrounded by idiots.

Yup. You have more there than your fair share.

Other than one other Maverick owner at a brewery I was at, I've had no conversations about my Maverick other than a couple neighbors who noticed I got a new car.

It was a shock to realize people aren't rubbernecking to get a glimpse of my mav the way I was doing every time I saw one prior to getting it.

I think I had more people ask about my Subaru Crosstrek than any vehicle I've ever owned. Dubbed it "The Vanilla Gorilla":

On a side note - don't lift your Subaru. Just leave it alone lol.

I traded my Mav for a 23 Crosstrek Limited. Yellowed out the fogs the first week too. Did not lift tho ;)
I miss the mileage the hybrid got, and the bed utility. Other than that, everything else was a (slight) upgrade. Most importantly, my payments for both the vehicle and insurance went down.
Crosstrek also fits better in my tiny garage

My wife had someone flag her down at a stoplight asking what it was. She said he had never seen one. He said
"OMG, it's like a car with a truck bed on it!" :D

Love my 2021 Crosstrek Sport. I get pretty decent mileage out of mine even with the Thule cargo box. Kinda bug out, camping vehicle as it's all set up with tent, air mattresses, sleeping bags, cooler, propane stove, etc. Even with the cargo box I've been getting over 31MPG. When I had the Mav Hybrid I got better mileage but than again no AWD and not as comfortable and didn't handle as well. Same could be said for my Santa Cruz AWD.....it can't beat the Crosstrek either....but it does have a bed that the Crosstrek is missing.

Might I recommend that you place a screen to protect the radiator . Plenty of discussion on the Subaru Forum about making them or purchasing them especially for the lower section. Seem a number of owners had to replace their radiator from getting hit by road debris. Seems the grill is ode ope for exposure to getting hits on the radiator.

Appreciate the advice! I'm not overly concerned at this point when it comes to preserving the longevity of the vehicle though. I've had it 5 months and just went over 1700 miles on the ODO. I leased this one. Went to LA and back (to Phoenix) and it was a pleasure to drive. But we'll see what happens when the 3 years are up. Might want a new Maverick, the updated Crosstrek, or something else altogether. I will say, I'm quite fond of the Subie so far. Admittedly, I miss my Maverick sometimes. I hope its new owner is enjoying it and living trouble-free!
