There was an article published a while back about a fleet of Escape hybrids used as NY Taxicabs. They drove the heck out of them, and IIRC got something like 400,000 miles out of those taxicabs. The Maverick uses basically the same drivetrain with slight changes, but it's a well proven design. I fully expect my Maverick to go 150,000+ miles with routine maintenance.
you beat me to that :)
when saying drive into the ground I think taxi service. Ford purposely went looking for fleet taxi buyers in 2005 selling to New York and California big cities for torture testing. The Escapes lasted much longer than Ford's interest.

I just got the hybrid as well. It's to replace a 1997 Sierra that has 115K miles on it. I oil undercoat the Sierra every year, it has new intake manifold gaskets, fuel injectors, starter, tires, alternator, and it runs like a top. I thought THAT would be my last truck because it's something I can work on myself and isn't rusted out or trashed. I'm retired and started taking social security and just decided that I'm tired of a body on frame, leaf spring, ten ply tires ride. I want the air conditioning to work. I want more than 14 miles per gallon. Now I tell myself that this Maverick is the last truck I'll ever own. But who knows what will come along in a few years that's even better?

I think a retired wise man in the Northern part of the country could easily get well over 10 years out of a hybrid Maverick. The climate is much easier on the battery. HEB batteries fare very well if well charged when in cold weather and should last a very long time (a lot longer than 10 years). The best thing outside of recommended maintenance you should do is keep your vehicle off the roads in the winter when the roads are sloppy. If you must drive it in these conditions, make sure you do a thorough undercarriage washing. Rust from salted roads is an enemy to any vehicle. We do not know yet, just how bad the Maverick could rust, but rust can easily kill a vehicle within a few years.

This. I am more worried about how much rust will permeate the body in 5-8 years than the drivetrain's reliability in that same timespan with routine maintenance. Though admittedly I live in a pretty dry area of the country and never really have to deal with salted roads, but if I lived in an area with salted roads in the winter, rustproofing the underside would definitely be something I would look at getting done.

Wow 1200 miles in a month! Got 5555 miles in 18 months, have another hybrid car with 134K, 11 years old and the mpg dropped 6 to 7 since I owned it. Still slightly better MPG now than the Maverick. I will likely replace the main battery if it goes out. Technology has been rapidly changing to newer cheaper NaIon batteries ( only 80% capacity by volume to LiIon )
Using both bays under the Maverick for Batteries we could get more range and be cheaper ( also less temperature related issues with new Sodium Batteries)

that mileage was skewed high by a 480 mile round trip to michigan and a couple of 100 mile round trips to visit family the 1st week or so since taking delievery 26 April 2023. since retirement 3yrs ago my yearly average is closer to 8000miles per/yr. But...this little Hybrid truck is begging me to drive the "new" out of her and i am happy to oblige :) knowing i can get 500 to 600 plus miles per tank has Wifey and i considering making this a Road Trip summer!

Wait, is the Maverick an airplane? I wouldn’t recommend it.

i apologize if i seem a little dense but i dont get the 'airplane' reference... anyway...its my new toy and i am having a lot of fun with it, more than i've had from a vehicle in a long long time. i expect this wanderlust will eventuly fade but right now i'm just enjoying this wonderful little truck !

Your title reads “can I DIVE my Maverick into the ground?” Just messing with you. I agree, it’s a great little truck.

I think your biggest enemy might not be your longevity, or that of the proven hybrid tech. Where it lies is Northeast Ohio winters. If you keep it garaged and keep it as free of salt as possible, you'll easily do it. I lived on the east side of Cleveland in Chagrin, then in Rocky River, all while working downtown. Love NE Ohio, but the winters can stretch longer and snowier than desired.

You’re gonna live until 100 and need an all electric Mav in 2035! I plan on getting one so we can chat about ours then.
All electric?! They're having trouble producing enough power for this heat wave. There's gonna have to be some magic to provide enough power for electric vehicles.

I am in a similar situation with my Ecoboost and I decided to buy an extended warranty because the cost of a 10 year low mileage extended warranty is not all that high. . I posted about it a few days ago giving my reasoning.

I also like the idea of just being able to drop it off at a Ford dealership with little worry about them trying to take advantage of me.
