My salesman called me up today and recommended I consider another Ford.

I told him I wasn't interested in another Ford. He yammered on about Broncos and Sports, then tried to talk about Rangers. I interrupted him at this point and told him if I wanted one of those, I'd have ordered one of those or gone to a lot and bought one rotting in the front.

He basically said he doesn't think there's a chance in hell I'm getting anything this year, and at best will roll my order into next year, but even then said he has his doubts based on my load out I'll see anything. I told him I took nearly every feature off the truck and he basically shifted the topic to getting something else.

They re-mentioned how they "gave me a shot" at getting that XLT I posted about prior for 40k. I told them that wasn't really giving me a shot that made any damned sense. He said he'd be in touch, but to think about it and hung up.

1. Yes, this dealer is F****ed 2. I'm worried at best I'm going to have to switch dealers and start over in July/June (can't remember when 24 orders start...) and then forgo any rollover better priority code?

This is twice this month with this place. Couple that with the missing dear John emails from Ford, just to start way late.

What was the point in bothering me like this. Just miffed...

I don't think Mavericks are rolling over to '24.
Keep your current order and order a '24
with a different dealer - not associated with current dealership.

Daz, before you ordered, your dealer should have told you if they had enough allocations to get yours built. They know this number because it is based on last year's sales. If you are #20 out of 30 allocations, good. #40, bad. They knew where you stood in their line and if they were already full, they should have told you to order from another dealer. Once they hit their expected allocations, your dealer should have stopped taking Maverick orders. But they won't admit this, they will just blame Ford.

I understood that the 2023 allocation method was changed well after the ordering window was closed. If that's true, there is no way a dealer could have known what their 2023 allocations were prior to accepting (or not accepting) and order for a '23.

I also know for a fact that it doesn't matter at all where you are in terms of "first in, first out" ordering = delivery... It's Allocations, then dealer's priority (10-19), then what Ford is looking to build. You could be the very last Lariat Hybrid ordered, and still get built before someone else's XL if Ford chooses to build more Lariats the week your dealer's allocation comes up...

They know the estimated number of allocations already because it is based on last year's sales.

Basically, ordering and getting a Maverick is a lottery. No one at Ford will ever say that, out loud, but that is what is is. When I ordered in September of last year and Ford closing the ordering banks like they did I was is high hopes that they had done their homework and came up with a reasonable number they could build based on production capability and projected ongoing supply issues. I was wrong it seems. This whole allocation business just serves a bad purpose of putting the customer squarely in the middle between Ford and their dealers.

If my 23 does not come in I will order a 24 for grins and chuckles but I will have little intention of waiting it out with the possibility of the same result happening again to me in 2024. I'm not getting any younger after all. Isn't there a saying about this kind of behaviour??

Tacos are available and they are really a good truck for my needs.

I think the dealer realized that a lot of '23 hybrids will not be built this calendar year. They would rather you buy something soon so they can make some money now and they can mark up your order if it ever arrives.

The sales manager at my dealer also thinks that Ford cannot fulfill all the 2023 hybrid orders.

My original order was for a '22 but it rolled to a '23. My wait was almost a year and a half.

They want to sell you something off the lot NOW rather than waiting for your preferred vehicle to come in.

My dealer back in Sept told me if you want a Maverick do not add any dealer installed options and get the eco boost.
I was a code 19 and it's being being built June 21st.
I keep reading about how many of you are having to wait and the dealer experience.
I feel bad for all of you

My friend there aren't rollovers. Get your deposit back and start asking around other dealers about their orders vs allocations and bite on the best ratio?

How much of a deposit did you put down?

This is 100% true. I knew I was ordering unallocated. Had priority 19. Switching from hybrid XLT to EB Lariat and now I'm scheduled. My sales lady told me earlier this month that there was a slight chance my order would get built.

I do think a bunch of Hybrid XL orders get shafted though. When they're limited on how many they can build, be prepared for XL's to be last in line IMO. They can make more from the XLT's and Lariat's.

So, it's critical to reach out to dealers now. See if they have a wait list for the 2024 orders. Find out if you ordered through them if you'd be allocated and priority 10. Because that priority matters when you are at the beginning of the model year. They absolutely will build some XL Hybrids, but only as many as they need to or have planned for. You want P10 to be in that small group.

As usual, right on the money. My dealer stated that there was definitely a change in allocation process AFTER order banks close. He indicate that it was now so screwed up, he could not even figure out allocations. OP needs to do as you recommended and KEEP the order, but do another 24 order with another dealership. My only fear if that dealer is like that, will they try to add an ADM fee, or require crap be added on. As usual - good dealers and bad dealers.

dealers never know their entire allocations for the MY up front. They are awarded monthly, and it can be a moving target within your own dealership who gets each allocation based on a number of factors.

not true. What about if there is NO last year's model in existence like when we ordered the brand new 2022 Maverick? It's based on past monthly sales of same model before other factors figured into the secret algorithm.
