What is the standard for newly delivered trucks? One FOB or Two?

Don't lose a key fob!! Found out this morning replacements are ~ $500! $90 just to reprogram a replacement. Independent locksmiths told me thay are not authorized to reprogram keyless Ford fobs. Only Ford Dealers!?!

Also, if the key ever breaks off your FOB, if your FOB is broken, or you have a one-piece key (older cars) with a chip in the head that breaks, don't throw it away. A locksmith may be able to use what's left to keep you from buying a whole new key/FOB set.

A locksmith told me that a while ago when I had to buy a new key for a 2010 Camry I had.

I thought about that and what I did was get some aftermarket key+fobs off amazon (This one since its a match on the key part # for my 22 Mav Key Fob, but mine is the Lariat w/ pushbutton). My dealership will cut the blade only for $45.

And since I already have 2 keys, its easy to program:
1. Put factory fob #1 in the notch inside the center console at the bottom (remove felt if needed)
2. turn the vehicle on (not crank it)
3. count 5 seconds.
4. Remove the fob
5. turn off the vehicle
6. Put factory fob #2 in the notch inside the center console at the bottom
7. turn the vehicle on (not crank it)
8. count 5 seconds.
9. Remove the fob
10. turn off the vehicle
11. Put New Fob in the notch inside the center console at the bottom
12. press and HOLD the Start button for 5 seconds.
13. You should see "Key Fob Programmed" appear on the dash.

So for less than $100, I have a 3rd fob handy. It doesn't have the Ford logo on the back, but otherwise looks, feels, and works identical to the factory one.
