Dealer says Ford was not accepting Lux Package or CoPilot360 Orders

Just received my build date and turns out my dealer (Leif Johnson Ford) did not include any of my build options in it and it will be arriving as a base XLT-Hybrid. When I asked them why none of my options were added they gave me an excuse that I'm not sure is true, can somebody confirm.

My original order was a:
Hybrid XLT
- XLT Lux Pkg
- Copilot360
- Manual Rear Sliding Window

My dealer is claiming that when I ordered (Submitted on 9/17), Ford was not accepting builds with the LUX Package or CoPilot360. I don't remember reading about this anywhere and it feels a bit like an excuse to me. Is what they're saying true here?

They may have gotten an allocation, and modified your order to get it filled.
Or they might just be less than competent, or they are hoping you pass-up and they can mark-up.
Hard to say due to so many different folks experiences on the forum with “dealerships.”

Don’t know on the 17th…but you could get the lux package and window on an ecoboost XLT on the 19th

Yeah, except no. This is literally the production plan breakdown sent to dealers before order banks opened. 30% of orders were to be XLT Lux and 40% of trucks built were to have CP360.

This is likely where I made the mistake. When they originally sent the forms to sign, the forms didn't include any of my selected options. I asked why they're not included and the sales manager said: "They wont go on the order so it doesn’t matter. We are just trying to get your order accepted with ford before they close the order bank for 2023."

I took that to mean that they will change the order once it's in the system. I had my doubts but I figured that they knew what they were doing (my biggest mistake). My understanding was that you can change any packages and whatnot after it's been submitted just can't change from Ecoboost to Hybrid.

Also would like to note that my salesman referred to the CoPilot360 package as the "360 camera package" which might indicate that this is incompetence at work more than anything

I ordered my Lariat Lux Hybrid with 360 on 9/20/22 and a month ago added something they separated in the 23 model. No problem according to dealer.

Demand to talk with the General Manager or dealership owner and if they still make that claim then say you need to hear it from the Ford Regional manager. If they say no then there is a number on the Ford web site to call and complain about dealer malfeasance.

Take the truck…it’s worth it. Flip it if unhappy.
I skipped 360 and Lux on my XLT. A leather steering wheel swap was the only thing I wanted/needed to do.

Did Same as per website in dec 22 got a build date 2 weeks later. Sales rep had no idea about the sibl and cargo $225 savings and I had to give him the item codes. Wasn’t sure till I saw the window sticker

I got my September order for an Ecoboost, XLT, Lux, 360 about three weeks ago. I suspect that part of the reason it was scheduled was that Ford looks at the profit per truck when scheduling what to build and the Lux package made it more profitable.

At the point there really is not much you can do which will accomplish anything. Even if screaming and writing angry letters makes you feel better there is not much you can realistically accomplish.

Your choices are mainly just;
1) Reject the truck and buy something totally different.
2) Buy it and flip it.
2) Buy it and maybe order a 2024 with the options you want at a different dealership(or maybe order several at different dealerships). As long as any deposit is refundable you can decide if want to accept it or not when it comes in. If the used Maverick prices stay high this may cost you next to nothing or you might even make a few bucks.

Actually, my dealer guy told me the same when the orders opened up. We didn’t add the lux package or the copilot until November. But i did stay in communication with them until they became available on their end to order.
But still, i don’t understand why they couldn't be transparent with you about that and add it once it was available. It’s a little sus.
