Parked in covered driveway with 1240 miles on the truck. Two cracks starts at bottom of windshield about 2 inches apart and merge into 1 crack about 2 inches up. Ford refuses to replace the windshield under the warranty and wants me to hold the bag.

Just because the cracks appeared when you were parked, doesn't mean the cause of the cracks didn't happen while you were driving. One of my older cars windows didn't start cracking until a month after a rock hit it, the break was too small for me to see, but it spread just the same. The glass people figured it out right away once they looked at it.

The dealership did the ballpoint pen test and concluded that something hit the windshield where the 2 cracks merge into 1. That's about 2 inches below the hood line and below the windshield wipers. They had to raise the hood to take photos at the dealership.

Mine cracked in first week of ownership from a dump truck rock . Apparently having a sign on the back of your dump truck that reads "stay back 200 feet-,not responsible for damage to your vehicle" absolves responsibility???( Bulls#@t !) The crappy Ford windshield is the only complaint I have about my Maverick. I truly love this truck.

Hum, based on the circumstances, I think that would have happened regards of vehicle brand. Could it be your driving habits and disregard to warnings - ya think?

No. I had my '05 FX4 pounded by numerous rocks over the time I own it ( 2014-2022) never once cracked so easy. This new windshield is a Ford one ( too new for aftermarket yet, according to Safelite) and it has 3 tiny dings in it in the last year . No actual cracks though. Damn roads and truck traffic in NJ blows.

Hi there, I'd be happy to look into your Maverick concerns on my end. Will you send us a message with your VIN and dealership info? I can look into things on my end.

Just contact your insurance company, most of them replace windshields at no cost, I believe it falls under comprehensive coverage.

The "Stay back 200 feet" signs do not hold up in court. They only deter folks from making claims.

So here's my question.... first, I'm sorry you had to replace the windshield in your new truck. But my question is, did anyone have that annoying cracking, tick noise around what seems to be dash/windshield area, do you still have the noise after glass swap?

When I was living in Colorado in the 90’s, was behind a dump truck and a rock fell off, took a couple good bounces on the road and then smacked the crap out of my windshield. There was one of those “Hows my driving?” stickers on the back and I called them to report the damage. They asked me “did it fall off the truck and bounce on the road first or hit your car first”?

I was honest and said it hit the road first, their response was “once it hits the ground, we aren’t responsible anymore”.

I guess the moral of my story is- from now on the rock flew off the truck and flew right into the windshield, it never touched the ground.

I was on my motorcycle, north of the Washington DC area many years ago, following a flatbed trailer loaded with old industrial equipment from a factory of some sort.

Something moving caught my eye and I noticed an electric panel door on a piece of equipment on the trailer was blowing open and slamming shut repeatedly. Just as I noticed it, it broke off and came flying back like a Frisbee of death. I barely dodged having it decapitate me. After that, I don't mind a little pebble so much. And nowadays, the insurance company sends the glass folks right to your house or job to replace your windshield in hour or so.

That same year, I bought my first brand new vehicle down in Richmond, VA. On the ride back to DC, a truck in front of me veered into the break-down lane and kicked up some gravel, cracking my brand new windshield. Ugh.

Where I live in NJ we see alot of these large dump trucks all over, coming out of the quarries. These guys drive worse than the slide off dumpster guys. Crawl up the hills and fly down them. Even though they are covered, rocks spew out all over. Hard to avoid.
