Our transmission had to be replaced at 17k miles. Now, waiting for dealership confirmation, our transmission went out again at 69000k miles. So this Transmission only has 52k miles on. Will this be covered by warranty?

It would depend on how it failed. It could be an electrical component which would be 3yr 36k or a powertrain but I would not hold my breath unless there is a service bulletin for the repair.

Ford Powertrain Warranty is 5 years/60,000 mi., so technically you are not covered. After already replacing 1 at 17k, they will likely wonder what the heck you are doing to wear them out so quick. May even try to claim you are abusing them and expect try to deny any replacement help.

Good Luck with that.

Did you see any problems with it or did it just crap out randomly?

The short answer is probably not.

Things maybe different now, but when I worked at a dealership, the coverage depended on whether the vehicle's warranty or the new-part warranty (12 months/12,000 miles) was longer. It always defaulted to the longer one.

I am 99% sure that neither apply in your case because that transmission has more than 12k miles. It doesn't matter that the vehicle's warranty for the part is 60k miles; the transmission is covered for the remainder of the vehicle's warranty or 12 months/12,000 miles, whichever is longer.

It may have slipped about an hour before. Not sure. If it threw a code would not have know because the center of the instrument cluster went out about a week before. Had it in the shop for an oil change and to look at cluster the day before it went out. Cluster on back order with no date available when it would be ready.

Oh crap. Don't tell me stuff like this. Did this happen on your Maverick?

I had a 1987 Mazda 323 that crapped out with transmission issues.

Well, was told transmissions are on back order with no time frame of when available. So I'm guessing they know they have issues. Probably not very many Mavericks out there have 69000 miles already. We don't abuse it. We drive it. We put on 4k to 5k miles a month on it. 75% to 80% of that is highway. It is not driven hard and has never towed anything.

Sounds like you are waiting on the Service department to talk with Ford over covering this transmission. That is where you start. No, this is beyond the warranty period.
BUT..there are goodwill policies in place with manufacturers. To lose a transmission at 17K miles, then another at 52K additional miles means something is wrong. Did Ford replace or repair the 17K transmission. That is key. If repaired, that means there is likely something wrong with either machining or certain parts in that transmission ( hairline crack in a shift drum bypassing pressure for instance). If replaced...they might want to know more about how it is used. Regardless, I think Ford will consider this. Beyond that there is little obligation.

Do you tow or haul alot with it? Definitely sounds like early failure and there could have been an issue from the factory (contamination/damaged cooler/pinched line/bad tcm/wiring)that took out the 2nd trans as well, no telling. There was a truck posted on here with over 100k on it so they shouldnt fail so early. One thing I always tell people is to drain/refill the fluid early in the trans. Ford will tell you its lifetime fluid or whatever but that just gets you out of warranty. I would do a drain/refill every 30-40k regardless of what they say the interval is, not sure it would have helped in your care as pretty low miles on the fluid, assuming they flushed it well when first trans was replaced.

Pcm and transmission were replaced the first time. We just had in the shop for an oil change and to look at instrument cluster the day before. There was a power code it threw one in Dec when cold and once in January. I brought to dealships attention. The code went away after turning off truck and turning back on. The dealership wasn't concerned.

Towed a very light boat once for 60 miles last summer.

I would push your service manage to ask Ford for assistance. They may not pay the full bill. But they may offer the transmission at no cost and you pay for labor. Just no way to know until someone talks with Ford.
Unfortunately a replaced transmission might not always hold up if the cooling system was not flushed ( often Ford requires and additional in line filter to be added to transmission jobs) to remove contaminants from first failure.
