Bought a XL and I think I'm feeling bad about it.

what is this cruise control talk. My XL has it. It is base base base.
Hi, the 2022 XL trim did not come with cruise. The 2023 does. If you have a 2022 with cruise then it may have been added by the previous owner

I bought the Xl because I didn't see the value of the XLT or higher trim levels. I never use cruise control, but I know that is a sticking point for most. I did find a great deal on wheels locally, so I'm happy with the way it looks at its features.
Same, I don’t get the cruise control thing. Not much use for it in jersey

I bought the cheapest trim possible on my first car and the regret was immense for the whole time I owned it. Just $1500 more when I bought it would have given me an upgraded engine, better seats (the seats were back breaking on longer drives) and bluetooth and it looked a lot better on the outside. Now that I have money I basically just buy the highest trim and every option of every car I buy that I would ever want. If I can't afford that I will wait or buy another car. I never regret spending a bit more money on a car but I did regret not spending enough.
Weird. We're the opposite.
I see the top trim models as having the same chassis, same engine, and most major components, yet costing 40% more. The base model is where the true value lies.
and despite having the $ to buy more, we don't. That's kinda how we ended up with money - by not spending it and investing for our future. Also looking to retire in our 40s takes a much higher precedent than owning a "top-trim" vehicle.

Not to hijack the thread, but I got the Lariat (with no lux or 360 package) for one main reason. I didn't want cloth seats. I'm dirty, muddy, greasy, wet, etc getting into my truck some times and I didn't want to rely entirely only high end seat covers. Figured, I have had leather seats int he last five vehicles I owned, and didn't want cloth seats. But, didn't really want/need the rest of the features of the Lariat.

However, I did like a few things. The power slide window. The spray in bed liner I was getting regardless. The push button start ends up being much more useful than I thought it would be. I do prefer the rims over the steelies the XL would've come with. Is it worth the price? Probably not. But, I do like it and probably would've felt buyers remorse if I went XL or even XLT. Having the Lariat, though, I don't have any remorse even if I paid more.

Hi guys. There was some time I was after a Maverick but here in NJ there are no vehicles available and it seems there won't be for some time.

It happens I needed a (second) car out of the blue because my wife found another job which is further from home, which lead us to purchase another car.

So that was my clue to have my Maverick.

Drove one hour to PA to find a black XL Ecoboost FWD - which was everything they had - and I bought it. (eve though I had to pay an extra for it)

Now after driving and feeling it - I say I really enjoy driving the car it but I feel terrible bad about buying a trim-version so basic - kinda ashamed.

I look at that truck and think If I should try buying new wheels or something else to make it look nicer but I'm not sure about putting money on top of a XL.

What do you guys think?

I am a car guy. So even bought a truck with a lot more options than you did, I have still made many changes to my truck. If you are going to own it and enjoy it, you might as well do what you need to get there. Full tint, and wheel/tire package alone would make that like a different truck.

I’ve actually gone coast to coast a few times. I get it when you’re in Kansas. East coast is tight, NYC, Philly, Baltimore, stop and go. Not really a thing for me.

We could retire now if we wanted to. But my wife will probably work for at least 20 more years so I don’t want to retire yet.

I was saving and investing more than half of my income and paid for my wife’s medical school. I am in a different part of life now and my wife and I make more than anyone would ever really need to so I can afford to buy the top trim of any car I want. I just pick more reasonable choices even though I don’t have to.

I like the looks of the basic XL model even with steel wheeled.

Hope you got a 23MY with cruise control.

Also I like the safety package with blind side alert and rear cross traffic warning.

in my defense, a) there can be many shades of black and b) it looks charcoal gray in the pic. 😂
