Recently my family ordered Pizza from Domino's.

Yeah, we lead an exciting life 😆

Anyhow, it was pretty interesting watching the pizza tracker proceed thru the process.

I wish the one for the Maverick did half as well.

I can track a $10 pizza down to knowing when it goes in the oven, but can't track a $20k-$40k truck being built worth a damn.

I know for instance that mine was assembled on 1/12. I saw the modules go live, and was later confirmed by customer support (when I asked a direct question). I have nothing thats going to the body company, as I removed all bed accessories.

The tracker still shows as In Production, and has for weeks now. Why even have a marker for Built on the tracker if its not going to show when it was built?

I can understand a few days worth of paperwork processing, QA inspections, etc, but damn.

I know that @Ford Motor Company could make a killing offering air tags as an optional accessory. The keys are in it from assembly on, since they go with the lock.

Sell me a Ford logo Keychain that doubles as an air tag.

First it would let me know when the truck is built, as I'd get my air tag number when the keys (or fob) was added to the truck.

Then I could follow things thru the process of moving about, getting loaded, transport, etc.

Lastly once I got my truck I'd already have an air tag on my keys in case I lost them.

Seems like it would be a fairly easy thing to do, and I would have paid for it as an option.

I have a ford Edge and the Ford Pass app on my phone. If you have a VIN, you can add it to the app and just click on the map button. It shows you exactly where your vehicle is. It doesn't help with the whole showing where it is in production but you could monitor where it is after it has been built.

Unfortunately you cannot activate the vehicle in the ford pass app until you take delivery.

Could you point out how to find this feature? I open the Ford pass app, and my VIN is in there, and it very precisely shows where I am. Not where my truck is. It's on the train from the plant so I would be curious to see how to do this.

If I remember correctly it has to be powered up to connect fordpass with it. I seem to remember someone getting lucky and having it activate, so their truck was likely powered up for testing at that particular moment.

Did the pizza you ordered come from Mexico?
No, but I can order products on Amazon that are made outside the US and still track them.

My app shows where I am and a little car icon where my edge is at. It maybe a feature that does not activate until you actually purchase it.

Just checked with someone that has a Maverick on a rail car as we speak. Ford Pass comes up with a notification that says that, Activation is pending to unlock ford pass features on vehicle.

It sure would make it easier on the person waiting for their Maverick but hay it's Ford.

My 2022 ordered rolled over and went into production on 1/10, today is 2/1 and still shows in production....have a feeling the dealer going to call me probably around March and say hey your trucks here....

Unfortunately you cannot activate the vehicle in the ford pass app until you take delivery.
Part of the activation happens in the vehicle...if you try to activate from the app and someone along the way activates it in the vehicle, you may have the location data. Prematurely activating the app (before the sale date) may cause you to lose out on the Ford Pass rewards points.

Were those packages the size of a truck?

I wonder if part of the murkiness is due to Ford not really wanting customers to know its internal process. It seems clear that dealership factors like size/allocation are valued far over fairness to customers, in terms of Ford's prioritization systems.

Ford's profit is also valued over fairness to customers, though that is harder to pin down.

My two cents... they know that "sunshine" would lower public opinion of their brand.

Nope.

Then again I'm not actually tracking the package. I'm tracking a barcode sticker thats attached to it.

Same thing would work with the barcode sticker that has our VIN built in inside the driver's door area, or with the airtag idea I suggested.

Did I say something that angered you?

Mine went into production on 1/6 and modules popped and date was put in on 1/13. It wasn't until 1/29 that it finally showed Built even though Ford chat said it was produced. What sucked was I was hoping the build date would be around 1/15 or so, but it showed 1/29. Don't know if it was waiting on something to issue it or what. It still hasn't shipped yet either according to the tracker and Chat.
