Cheap auto-dimming, homelink mirror

Does getting a used Kia Optima mirror work from a scrap yard? I'm in canada and those mirror's are not $10 - $20 here. Looking to see if i can source one from a scrap yard.

Just finished installing this on my XLT. I wired it into the same switched power that my dash cam is running off of, and it works great.
There’s no need for constant power to retain garage door info. I ran the power down the passenger side A-pillar to the fuse panel, and hooked up there. There’s a ground hookup behind the glove box on the right side that the included wires will reach, but I had to extend the power wires to reach the fuse box.

Good idea, I think the KIA dealers want $200+ Cdn for those things here.

Thanks for everyone's input on this, I just did mine.

A few things I felt I could clairfy for others:

• The black/white-striped wire provided by Kia connects to the purple wire. That's for ignition power.
• The center wire provided by Kia connects to the yellow wire for constant power.
• The wire far opposite of the black/white-striped wire connects to the black/blue wire for ground.

I do not have a Maverick yet so I can't check.
Are you connecting to the dome light?

Thanks to those in this thread that contributed. I installed this mirror along with a handful of other mods when I got my Mav about a month ago. This one is by far the best value and useful thing I did! The auto-dimming + homelink is great.

Which mirror did you use? Does your homelink work for your garage door?

And yes, it does work fine for my garage door opener.

Just remember to get a mirror that is newer as you need the gen4 mirror to operate the newer openers, not a gen3

Has anyone installed this with 4 wires from the Kia mirror? Anyone able to advise which wires to use? I’ve got green, orange, blue and black from the Kia harness. I can take a better photo if needed.

Yeah, I read the thread, thanks.
I've seen different part numbers for different mirrors. Or maybe they are the same part number for the same mirror, I don't know. However, I replied to that user in particular, b/c they have a hybrid, so I wanted to order the specific one they got.

Installed mine last night. Didn't have the correct fuse tap in house, waiting on amazon to finish wiring to fuse panel. Wasn't hard but there were a few pita moments.
