Looks like we will have a new 2023 XLT soon. I have a set of 2022 XL rims and TPMS sensors for winter tires. The local tire shop claims the 2022 sensors won't work with the 2023 XLT as the sensors are year specific. I called a local Ford dealer service department and was told this was probably correct.
I've never heard of that the sensors are model years specific. Can anyone shed light on this?

If all goes as planned we'll have our new Maverick by the end of the week.

From what I can tell Ford used a 315MHZ TPMS until 05/05/2021 and after they went to a 433MHZ TPMS from that date forward.

Ford Maverick TPMS sensors are model year specific? tpms

Highly unlikely. I've purchased OEM TPMS for vehicles before, and they usually include a range of years: ie... Ford F-150 2008-20012. Makes no sense to make them year specific. I guess you'll find out when your XLT comes in and you put a couple of your winter tires on ;)

I bought 315mhz TPMS for my 2022 Maverick based on a review from a guy who had the same vehicle and he stated that the sensors didn't even need to 'learn' his vehicle, they just worked.

I guess I will find out.

Update;
These worked fine in my 2022 Larait Hybrid.

Yes that is what I thought but as you said I'll see.

Edited:

Discount Tire just used a sensor that covers 314.9,315 and 433 on mine last week.

My Maverick was made after 5/5/21 but DiscountTire just put 315MHZ in my new wheels last week with no issues.
If you don’t mind sharing what was the cost on those?
I’m wondering if it’s even worth pulling the stock ones out of my steelies or am I just better off purchasing them separately for new wheels.

Believe DT charges $60 a wheel installed. I got them to price match Tire Rack bc I was buying a full package and TR is under $30 a wheel. DT price is a bit ridiculous considering they’re already installing valve stems if you’re buying wheels/tires

To clarify, I looked at the part # Discount used and it’s a tri-band sensor so the Maverick very well could be on 433MHZ. DT used a Schrader sensor that covers 314.9,315 and 433

I checked my sensors and they are clearly marked 315 MHZ so it looks like I'll need new sensors. The tire shop sells them for $35 each installed. I'm planning on getting them mounted/installed on Saturday the day after we get our mav.
thanks for clarifying that for me.

Thanks! Yeah $60 per wheel is a lot especially when they are already doing an install. I’ll need to check around I guess.

I don't know why Ford is still using TPMS sensors. The wheel speed sensor easily allows the computer to figure out when a tire is going flat. My 2017 GTI did that passively.

Yes our 2015 VW Passat uses the ABS sensors as well to calculate the diameter and thus the pressure of a tire. Very simple to reprogram with a button by the glove box. Our 2018 Chevy volt has sensors like the mav.
