They used to beEvery time I called them they were super nice and apologetic. Of course, I was nice to them. Getting shitty with the little people helps nothing.
What changed? Is it possible it was your demeanor? They used to be
Lots in New England now have inventoryWhere? Show me one such lot.
That's because we're all paid fanboy apologists...How about you do this for us bud. Go to the top of this conversation, work your way back here from the beginning. Now, take note of how many people agree with you, and how many people do not.
Then ask yourself, how likely is it that you are being reasonable and everyone else is crazy.
That would be the first bit of competence they have shown since last summer when they couldn’t figure out when to take ordersAs of this afternoon they were nice to me. You know they have your order and info pulled up before they even answer, right? Would it blow your mind to learn that they also have notes from previous calls?
Stop taking orders on items they know they can't produce. That's not so hard, now is it?You clearly have not one single clue how to do business globally or what production entails. You are talking about a multi billion dollar company producing 10's of thousands of cars PER MONTH. If you cannot get a microchip from a producer due to things like half of China still being locked down, WHAT THE FOOK DO YOU SUGGEST THEY DO? "
I am not going to debate you. I will only say one more time. I have not been able to buy furniture. Friends have not been able to buy appliances. I have waits months for multiple parts, a year for another, and yet more have been cancelled all together with no ability to obtain an ETA at all. NONE of those were due to microchips. I know for a fact that some local dealers here in AZ have had new vehicles arrive by train, to only be sent to Las Vegas and unloaded there and then driven back to AZ due to driver shortages. If you are as knowledgeable as you intimate, and deny that supply chain issues are real and ongoing for any number of products then you are simply not being honest.Stop taking orders on items they know they can't produce. That's not so hard, now is it?
A company like Ford doesn't stick around for as long as they do by playing nice and not knowing where every penny goes. They can tell you how much money they spend on toilet paper on the third floor of a particular building in a particular month in a particular year. Their accountants know what's coming in and going out. This microprocessor shortage is nothing new and I can assure you that car companies are more profitable now than ever as they have pivoted around this issue.
I speak from first hand knowledge that the issue isn't a shortage of vehicles, it's that they are being bought before the customer has a chance to get them. Again I speak from the first hand knowledge. I'm not sure why you are so defensive and quick to defend dealers and manufacturers. I really don't care nor do I want to get into a internet debate with you, but it's a trend I've noticed. Feel free to defend whatever you want to - it's your right and I'm happy to have spirited discussions that stay respectful but Ford, General Motors and every other big manufacturer is every bit as profitable right now with this shortage because they know things that we don't. Don't be fooled for one moment about this microprocessor issue. Yes it is real but there is embellishment on the affects that it's having and the price we pay for it.
They can't have enough because that's there job, so I must agree I myself am not going to be a returning customer for FordCall center people have clearly had enough of people calling to inquire about their Maverick! That person is likely going to return to their old job of outgoing calls for bill collection.
Correct. Dealers get emails in daily from wholesalers saying if you have this we will give you MSRP plus xxxx. Why bother putting it on the lot and dealing with customers? So yeah, Ford is building to capacity, it's the dealership that's holding out
"There was no shortage of apples at the supermarket, other people just got there first and bought them all."
Yep. I ordered 12/4/21 and am SOL because my dealer didnt roll my order over. There is no recourse. This is absolutely Ford's problem and they don't care.Problem is , Ford is imploding and doesn’t care
Disagree
Has everything to do with Ford having no concern or interest in its customers or keeping them. To say: “Do what you gotta do” is utterly contemptuous of customers. And if suppliers are not doing their jobs, get new ones!
Yes, supply chain is an issue. We agree on that. The problem is that people tend to point their fingers to the wrong link in the chain. It creates confusion and chaos, as we've seen in many forums and threads.I am not going to debate you. I will only say one more time. I have not been able to buy furniture. Friends have not been able to buy appliances. I have waits months for multiple parts, a year for another, and yet more have been cancelled all together with no ability to obtain an ETA at all. I know for a fact that some local dealers here in AZ have had new vehicles arrive by train, to only be sent to Las Vegas and unloaded there and then driven back to AZ due to driver shortages. I do agree 100% that Ford should have limited orders on vehicles that could not be produced. I have the feeling that their suppliers should be able to give them an accurate estimate as to what products they can ship to Ford, when and in what quantity. But, I am not in supply chain at Ford so I don't know that level of communication. So I can only arm chair quarterback that myself.
Then explain this: they took orders for 2022 models, and didn’t make them. Switched to 2023. Could have finished the 22 model year and waited to finish that before switching. No law said you must switch at a date. They knew the demand for hybrids, opened orders without consideration for what they could, or rather, were willing to produce. Now claim they can’t produce what they took orders for. Now, total confusion with new 23 orders being made before older 22 orders, now converted to 23’s are made. I seem to recall that when you hit a jackpot with a new design, you expand production. Chip shortage, parts shortage have all become a worn out excuse for sloppy management. Then allowing those reps of the company to play smart a@@ with customers is further bad management. No excuses allowed. On top of that have what are obviously paid staff to attack customers who tell the truth is ultimate bad management.DUDE!! You are not the only person on earth. The world does not revolve around you. Having the ability to understand this is pretty basic, and pretty necessary. Let me help get the ball rolling for you: I placed an order in Sept and my truck is on a train heading my way. Thousands of other people have had the same experience. That is a bit of competence they have shown.
Maverick is a whitespace vehicle, it was an afterthought. If parts are left over from everything else, then they built Mavericks.Jesus dude I just spit my drink out. You gotta warn us before coming in with your "There are plenty of Mavericks, they are just being bought by wholesalers" insanity.
Not to give any validity to such nonsense, but maybe you could ponder these three things:
1. "Why bother putting it on the lot and dealing with customers?" Uhhh because that is precisely what their business is, and because of the extra money they make doing that.
2. Where are these Mavericks that the dealers are selling to wholesalers coming from?
3. Is this just a Maverick thing, if not, why are we not seeing this level of scarcity with all manufacturers? And if yes, why Maverick, and not other higher margin vehicles?
