Continues to amaze me that some people are compelled to criticize what other people pay for their cars. It's nunya - live and let live. Merry Christmas 🤶
Continues to amaze me that some people don't understand that there are certain things in life where one's actions can affect others. An example is pushing up pricing on the same product. Wonder why people might not like that idea...

As my mother would as me in my youth when I ask for something. Her response to me was it’s a want or a need? I started looking at the Maverick in the spring of 2022. The order book for 2023 opened and closed before I could sign up. It is now December and customers still have not received the 2022 order or their 2023 replacement. In August when a Maverick Lariat hit the dealer lot and was marked up 5K I walked away from it. I am familiar with the Maverick because my neighbor ones one and I liked it. It was easy to compare with a ranger a different neighbors has one of them. 1. The ranger will not fit in my over full 3 car garage 2. The Maverick fits in my garage and meets my needs. the dealer had a lot of bites on the maverick and no takers. The 2023 pricing came out and the differences in packages between 2022 and 2023. The real Problem was I would have to wait and place a order for a 2024. So I sat down escalated the 2023 price to a 2024 price using the difference between 2022 and 2023. With the price increase higher interest and lower trade in the 5k mark up might mot be a bad deal for a truck now. I found the 2022 at a 2023 price to be a acceptable price for the truck I wanted.

So you would look at the Santa Cruz ? That's the only competitor for Maverick .
No, not interested in the Santa Cruz.

Anything I choose as a competitor to the Maverick is a competitor to the Maverick. I don't have to cross-shop vehicles within a market segment. My needs and wants determine what I might consider, not market silos.

Curious what kind of reliability issues you’re having (as I wait)?
Maybe I should have said issue, not plural. I'm currently experiencing the "Dead hybrid, battery harness issue" that others have. The dealer told me to wait until after Christmas to coordinate resolution, but mine sits dead meanwhile.
I'm not ready to jump ship, but others with this issue have experienced long delays with repairs due to parts availability. We shall see, I will refrain from any more reliability comments pending my experience with this issue.

In Houston I’m still not seeing any available Mavericks on dealer lots
I’ve seen 6-7 right after the truck dropped them off but they were customer orders

If I could find a comparable competitor to the Mav, I'd have bought one already. There just isn't one. Yet. Ridgeline is great, lots of features, but much bigger, more expensive and lousy MPG. Same for Frontier and Colorado. Somebody put a direct competitor out there that is also available to buy... I'm there. You think any of us WANT to wait a year plus for a truck?

In the past 6 months I've only seen one USED Maverick for sale in my area of N Georgia/Western N Carolina area. XLT AWD Ecoboost Fx4 with 30k miles. Dealer wanted over $40k. Sat on the lot for well over a month until it was finally purchased last week. I ordered one the day order bank opened. Why pay $10k over MSRP for a used one with that many miles when you can get one at sticker? I guess some people really want a Maverick and don't mind paying over msrp for it. I personally don't understand it.

Keep in mind $5k ADM on a 22 is like $3k markup at today's prices for the same truck.

Everything is negotiable (at a dealer).
Talk them down an additional $1k.
At just $1k you are being serious and reasonable. 99% chance the dealer will take it. Really. It's true.

If you have a trade, negotiate UP the value of your trade. Get them to come UP on the trade another $2K. Totally possible.

Now you have broke even. You are at MSRP.

Now the Sales Dept. Can brag they sold a truck a markup on paper, but you essentially Paid 2023 MSRP on a 2022. But that's fair because you waited until 2023 to buy one!

Like you pay current MSRP for milk, meat, eggs, and gasoline. You don't pay LAST YEAR's prices for food? Or jeans, or toys.

Go for it if you see one on a lot!

I just searched the inventory within 100 miles of st Charles, mo and there are 47 2022 models. The inventory dose not say how many are sold.

I have an XL hybrid being built this week and an XL EB being built in 3 weeks (subject to change of course). I plan on driving the hybrid until the EB arrives, then seeing if someone wants to pay me a ridiculous amount for it.

Our dealer just offered our son 5k over msrp for his 22 no-options XL with 3,000 miles. I don’t think trade in values have tanked.
Was offered $6K over MSRP for my XLT EB FX4 with MR, ORP, Lux, DIBL, 4K tow, etc., but my logic is what can I buy for the price including the $6K over. Nothing to compare with it for the size, comfort, fuel mileage, etc.

If the logic that a lot of people hold regarding the dealer getting more than MSRP holds, would it be just as wrong for me (and the others who posted here where they were offered above MSRP) to sell theirs for more than they paid. As much as I dislike the markups, we have to accept that we should be thankful that we are still in a free market society, where the market determines the pricing - old adage of supply vs. demand.

Got a feeling this is just what Ford has put on websites of vehicles that people have ordered and have been built. If you do like I did at first by looking at Edmunds, cars.com, kbb.com and a zillion others, you will waste your time by calling only to find out these are ordered vehicles. I finally learned to go to dealer directly, but again, Ford posts what they have in transit there as well. It took scores of calls before I found one that had been refused that day and gladly paid $2K above.
