Bought a XL and I think I'm feeling bad about it.

Hi guys. There was some time I was after a Maverick but here in NJ there are no vehicles available and it seems there won't be for some time.

It happens I needed a (second) car out of the blue because my wife found another job which is further from home, which lead us to purchase another car.

So that was my clue to have my Maverick.

Drove one hour to PA to find a black XL Ecoboost FWD - which was everything they had - and I bought it. (eve though I had to pay an extra for it)

Now after driving and feeling it - I say I really enjoy driving the car it but I feel terrible bad about buying a trim-version so basic - kinda ashamed.

I look at that truck and think If I should try buying new wheels or something else to make it look nicer but I'm not sure about putting money on top of a XL.

What do you guys think?

Tell your what,
I bought a lariat AWD and feel bad that I spent 10k more for essentially the same truck.

I will be happy to swap for a XL and 10k 😃

The Maverick is one of the best looking vehicles on the road no matter the trim! You'll find a ton of ideas on how to add on conveniences and wheels on this forum. Make it a project and involve your kids. Safe and happy travels.

I bought a loaded Lariat. Yes it's nice. But it's the same engine you have in your XL. Part of me still thinks I could have saved $10,000 by gettting an XL and only upgrading the things that were important to me. My freaking rear view is the same as in your truck...lol. Most things are, and some things are not upgraded at all.

BTW you can search and join Maverick sites on facebook. Someone is always selling their wheels and tires. Maybe you'd get lucky and find someone near you selling their stuff.

Don't feel bad. Spend some money and make it yours! Cheers!

You regret(maybe) the XL, and I reget getting the XLT. Wife said no to lack of cruise, and a year ago in July, no information was available, so XLT it was.
Did not care for the styled wheels, I like steelies. Did not care for the ORANGE!!! accents and pad. Liked the look of the XL interior, liked the plain-looking grill, really don't care a lot about the locking tailgate, so XL fits a lot better.
You can look at it as if you have a couple $K in your pocket to do some customizing once you get used to it, and get the things that matter to YOU. Appearance items are at your whim, and you don't have to take what someone else likes and forces you to buy.
More freedom. What's to want?

You did good. I also ordered an XL after considering the cost/benefits of higher level trims. Because I detest the nanny .....er, I mean automated safety intervention crap, it was a no-brainer. It's supposed to be a cheap truck, for God's sake. I need a high MPG utility vehicle for my small farm and the Maverick fits that bill perfectly.

Use the XLT wiring harness and tailgate lock, so the tailgate locks with your key/remote
I’m too cheap, and leave my tailgate locked even when in active use. One tailgate replacement leaves a lifetime of always locked tailgate. I back in and leave just enough space to shemmy sucking in my gut to avoid attempts.

They don't seem at all disappointed with the XL trim.

'Ashamed"?! I have a base XL hybrid carb gray and I could not be happier or prouder. The interior is conservative black and dark blue and it looks wonderful and everyone likes it, I added a Ford rubber bed liner and their rubber floormats and bed cover and I walked away paying (before taxes) out the dealer for less than 21K. I have every option I need - the windows roll down, it has a/c , it's gets great gas mileage, it runs wonderful. Don't let any snobs tell you different, this 'guilt' is silly. Enjoy your new truck. One day down the road you can pick up some new wheels they're not overly pricey but besides that enjoy your truck, your kids, and your life }

I would just add the XLT Painted Aluminum Wheels, standard on XLT. Would look great on your truck!
