Battery Tender brand is the standard for motorcycles. Attaches to the battery via an SAE plug (small cord). Would probably fit through a closed door no problems.

OTH I bought an air compressor / jump starter pack off the shelf at an auto parts store like 10 years ago. Still works fine. Regular lead acid.

The Wall to 12v charger to charge the pack broke in like year one. So one of the things I put a battery maintainer on is a battery jump starter. 😆

No joke. I bought the thing before I moved and I moved in 2013.
I can't remember the brand but I'll take a picture if anyone is interested.

Correct, not all vehicles constantly power the 12v receptacle, for those that do, it's a convenient location to charge.

'Battery Tender" is a well tested and respected brand and offers them in a number of configurations.

Good luck...

.
You are absolutely correct and I couldn't agree more! In fact, I'm going through the cig lighter on my RV to use a solar trickle charger. Much better than having trying to feed cables into the engine bay while parked in a storage lot.
Yes, Battery Tender has been around for decades and is reliable. I was just looking at something that might present less time and trouble unclamping.
Truth be told, thanks to this thread, the idea of just scheduling remote starts might be an even better solution to keeping the Mav's battery at peak.

Thank you. Good information. Certainly puts it up there in terms of easy access and convenient connect/disconnect.

I dunno. Call me old school, but a brand new vehicle shouldn't need a trickle charger to start. The only times I ever regularly hooked chargers to my vehicles over the years, is if something was electrically wrong with them. We have a 1982 Toyota RV camper that sits outside through the winter months with no attention. Turns over and starts every spring.

No, of course not. Tell that to Ford. I get the idea of Ford engineers wanting to conserve battery to enable an easy start up, but doubt they intended it to be such an issue. Who knows? Perhaps the problem came in applying an engineer's concept to the actual build. I believe Ford has acknowledged a BMS (battery management system) issue and have plans to correct it. In the meantime, hybrid Maverick owners are coming up with their own and hopefully, temporary solutions.

Exactly. Just today I received 4 deep sleep warnings. Every place I stopped. This was after not driving for a week. My old Kia Sorento that I had for 6 years only had to have the battery replaced once and that’s because my kids left the interior dome light on.

Why not? What is different about the Mav? How did you connect it?
I have no idea. The B&D charger charges the other cars, but it's charging indicator doesn't flash on-and-off when inserted in the lighter socket of the Mav (like it will in the other cars when actually charging).

I concluded that no flashing could mean one of two things: it could mean my Mav 12v battery was fully charged OR the charger wasn't working. So I ran some process-of-elimination tests. Found that the Mav's 12v battery was definitely down and needed charging, but no amount of time on the B&D charger would charge it up. Meanwhile, it would charge with a more traditional direct charger.

A weekly schedule remote start works well. Leave AC off. Let it run full 15mins. The ICE usually only comes on for a few minutes to top off high voltage battery and in turn powers the 12v. The full 15mins.
Anybody try 20 amp solor charger see if it tops off battery

20amps is a few large panels I keep my RV topped off with just a large 130w solar panel matched the charge to the C rate so no regulator is needed. The battery is at least 3x the one in the Maverick. I would only put 1-2amp solar panel on the Maverick. One 15w panel would work.

I see where they have a 20 watt I wonder if that would help

Try connecting directly to the battery. Not trying to be insulting, but is the 12V outlet in the Mav hot when the ignition is off; I don't know since I have never been closer than 10 ft. to a Mav. Or maybe the B&D is NFG.
