Hey guys

Literally lowered my maverick yesterday and after the initial test drive the Check engine light came on and P237c Code came on which is related to the Heat Exchanger. I am worried the dealer will say something in regard to my modification done and void my warranty or something. Has anyone dealt with this ? Am I over thinking ? I can put the truck back to stock but really dont want to ha !
Thanks!

You assume the techs even know what they are looking at in the first place or will even spend the time to do the computer diagnostic unless it is absolutely necessary let alone interpret the results themselves. They are mechanics not engineers.

I think that you're being very generous.

In some cases they do, in the O.P. case if he throws a wheel bearing for example and it is obvious the suspension has been lowered or raised you can bet the farm the dealer is going to tell him to go pound sand on the warranty.

You will only have an issue if you are complaining about something directly related to something you modified

Most service advisors know the laws and won’t even mention mods

Best thing to do if you plan to have a modified vehicle that is still under warranty is to be extra nice to your service department
Like bring donuts/ask questions/be a pleasant person in general

I’ve had no issues with my Ford dealer on warranty stuff on my Maverick and my former F150

Of course the people they are car people and enjoy seeing tasteful mods

I am a service advisor for a different automotive brand so I know the game but curious how ford has been about this kind of situation.
I know that if my wheel bearings have issues or shocks blow I will be the one taking care of it but something related to the hybrid system obviously is not related to installing eibach lowering springs.

My son had a modified 2018 Civic. Lowered suspension, modified engine tune, custom exhaust and modified front and rear bumpers. Honda service would not do anything under warranty.

Was that Honda's policy, or the dealership's?

Dealers have to be cautious...especially w/ engine tunes. They don't want to perform a warranty repair, and have the manufacturer disagree and charge them back.

With just lift kit/lowering, the dealer will probably not want to touch any suspension related concerns under warranty. But there shouldn't be a problem with most other issues.

One dealer denied my axle replacement because they said it was lowered. I threw my OEM suspension back on the front. And left the rear slammed(coilovers) and the other dealer fixed it with not much hesitation after they found a few other service records for other people's axles.

My spark plug did destroy piston 2 this week. So now I'm going to try and figure that out soon.

Never saw the appeal of lowering a pickup truck, or most any vehicle.
Rides stiffer, not always a good thing.
I’ve ridden in lowered vehicles. No thank you.

I’m also too old to need to look cool. Us old farts are just plain cool, we can’t help it. Every body knows if your old, bald and fat all the women want you.
Matters not if your truck is lowered.
:’P

I want ALL my ground clearance and my full suspension travel range. That’s one of the main reasons I bought a pick up truck.
I’m not ever on a closed race circuit.

I don’t understand why people think it looks good, same as I cannot fathom why people need to stuff the biggest tire into the wheel well.

Lifting a frame on body 4X4 to extend its off road capability makes perfect sense.

But screwing with these unibody mini pick ups with their very short drive shafts that extensively for a few inches of extra or a few inches LESS ground clearance,
I just don’t get it.

NASCAR, Cart, F1 and the East L.A. home boys perfected lowering,

I’m not that. I’m just naturally CAF
Cool As Fa fa fa fa run run run.

My Merlot glass is empty, I’m outta here.

Oh and MERRY CHRISTMAS Dudes and Dudett’s
:XD
