I'm curious about the sounds my Maverick makes when locked

This is not a complaint thread. I'm just purely curious about the noises my truck makes. I hear it doing stuff, it's making noises when it's parked in my garage and the doors are locked. My key fob is in the house.

I hear mechanical sounds like popping and clicking.

What is it doing?

I don't know why I find this so funny.
Maybe it want's to go for a ride.
Maybe it is trying to escape.
I'm not concerned because it's not the first time it has done this.
I just want to know what it's doing.

Anyone know?

Mine does it weather locked or unlocked. Guess it's shutting itself down? Also makes lots of clicks when I open the door. Like it's waking up.

yeah, the wife's Escape is areal chatter box at times, ya get used to it

Has nothing to do with a "FOB", I don't have a FOB and it still clicks its little head off. Hide the key and it still clicks....It is not something cooling off, like exhaust or heat shields, it’s just a clicking sound from what appears all around the truck…….just a gremlin.

Hybrid yes? If so, normal, hybrids just do that stuff. There are electric brake boosters and electric ABS motors, these power up and down at various intervals, and the inverter charges the 12v battery, not sure if or how long it does this once you power off the vehicle though.

EB? No idea.

How many miles are on your truck? If it is fairly new, some of the sounds might be the exhaust system cooling down. Also, any thin heat shields cooling down as well.

My EB stays quiet after I turn the ignition off. Either that or I'm deaf and that's a possibility.

My Eco does it too. I've tried to search it out but no luck. Every time I walk away it does it. When I looking it never does.

This is just speculation, but what I hear is a noise similar to the EGR cooler/valve make as my F350 diesel makes. The egr on these is more sophisticated than the older setups, the ‘computer’ changes valve position based on temperature. As my f350 cools, I’ve watched the valve actuator change position moving closed/open not sure which. I think the maverick does this too.
