I made a crude drawing for you but somehow I'm not sure this will convince you either. You can see between the horizontal construction lines on the tapered area that there are sections of both lugs that are EXACTLY THE SAME dimensionally speaking EVEN WITH one being sized for an M12 lug and the other an M14 lug. So yes, a wider AND shorter lug nut with the same taper will have an area of it that is exactly the same as the longer and more narrow lug nut.

Also, your example is ridiculous, how about you use dimensions more relevant. Show me a damn 4" wide lug nut that's used on a passenger vehicle. If you're saying the Maverick lug nut is twice as wide as the bronco sport lug nut you need to get your eyes checked BUT if the 100mm lug nut was LONG enough, YES, it would probably have a tapered area that matched the 50mm lug nut, THAT'S HOW ANGLES WORK.

Great you managed to fit both a 24mm and a 26mm lug into a hole that appears to be 38-40mm. Well done Sir truly amazing. 😂😂 This has truly become a comedy show.
I’ve posted pics of damaged rims, pics of lugs with obviously different physical differences, length, width, diameter so on.

and your response is a graphic showing both 24mm and 26mm can fit in a 40mm hole. Brilliant

I’m going to make this super extra simple for you guys.

‘I’ve physically taken oem Maverick chrome lugs and on bronco sport wheels they bottom out and damage the rim. Another member has posted the same with pictures.

relative size when talking about Maverick vs Bronco Sport lugs DOES NOT MATTER. I cannot help it if you don't understand the math, that's the real comedy show.
Pretty sure you guys are the ones not understanding the math here, diameter matters. Doesn’t matter if it’s 3mm or 50mm. Nothing like posting 2d images trying to solve a 3d problem 🤪
More importantly we can discard math, theory and graphics and use REAL LIFE RESULTS. Another member and I have both reported the Maverick lugs bottom out and damage the Bronco sport rims. Pics have been provided. A third member attempted to prove us wrong and posted his own pics……THEY CLEARLY SHOWED DAMAGE TO THE RIM.

And another guy posted his photo with BS wheels and Mav lugnuts which showed no damage so what do we believe?
Go take a real close look at those pics again, especially the last 4.
I clearly see damage to the rims, you should too

Not to throw gasoline on this, but is it possible that not ALL Bronco Sport wheels have the same hole size? This might help explain why some users have better luck with the typical 14mm lugnuts than others.

The Dorman 611-007 I bought yesterday measures 16.6mm at the smallest point of the 60 degree taper, obviously it will fit a 14mm + taper hole differently than a 17mm + taper hole.

That’s certainly possible and would explain a lot

You are absolutely incorrect otherwise show me some drawings with the correct dimensions of the lug nuts. I'm 100% confident that because taper angles are relative despite length there will still be matching overlap between the two lug nuts. Actually, because I'm home sick with covid I have nothing better to do than to get the dimensions of the actual lug nuts and I'll show you. Also, 3D drawings aren't going to make any difference, if anything the cross section 2D drawing is more representative of my point especially when it comes to overlaying the images. Wish there was another engineer or two here that could chime in to verify that this guy is either gaslighting or trolling or both.
Dude, you’re still blabbering on about drawings and needing another engineer when I’ve posted pictures of the damaged rim and others have reported the same issue with pics. 🤪 Typical engineer, let’s spend 400 hours proving how something can’t happen …………all the while with a picture of it happening hanging over your head.

Nice, we have used the same wheels and lugs from Costco with over 4k miles. Had no idea lugnuts were so complicated. Our biggest issue was finding one that was the shortest possible, in our case 1.45".

OleFordGuy mentioned these:

https://www.amazon.com/Wheel-Access...----1-1--267-3&vehicleName=2022+Ford+Maverick

These have the same specs as the ones purchased from Costco.

Good luck to everyone and if you find something better, please let us know..................................

This has gotten way out of hand. Just as I said in my very first post just about any 14mm 1.5 cone lug is going to hold the wheels on probably without catastrophic damage or consequences.
I was just trying to find good options that won’t damage the rim or cause a potential safety issue even if the probability was not high.

So far I’ve decided I didn’t like how the gorilla fit, the Mav lugs bottomed out and dug into the rim. I’m currently using Mcgards that seem fine but certainly don’t fit the recessed part of the rim as well as the bronco sport lugs do. Of course can;t use the Bronco sport lugs because they are 12mm.

I was only looking for lug nut options Not debates and arguments

You've posted ONE photo of damage and then called something else damage that was in no way damage at all. That's ONE Maverick with a damaged wheel out of hundreds running the BS wheels. Like I said, for all we know it was some kind of user error. I just remembered that I ran the Maverick lugs on my BS wheels for about 500 miles before my Gorilla lugs came in and I can assure you there was no damage when I removed them. Like I said, I'll post photos when I perform tire rotation showing no damage and that the Gorilla 14mmx1.5 lugs fit perfect in the BS wheels with no damage. Here is a photo of my Maverick the week I got it with the swapped BS wheels on and the stock Maverick lug nuts.

Those look like the Mav lugs from the steel wheels? I was referencing the Chrome oem Maverick lugs bottoming on the bronco sport wheels.
I have the same wheels and the oem chrome definitely bottom out and dig in.

No worries, your concerns are warranted since we are using wheels from another vehicle.

We also had a Lariat and could not find the factory OEM lugnuts that were even shorter than 1.45".

First pic using the Maverick steel wheel factory lugs
Second pic shows the ones from Costco

I’ve ordered a set of those Costco ones from eBay ‘’I’ll compare they with my current Mcgards when they arrive and see what I think. 👍
