Does anyone know if they will make it for the hybrid or is it even worth it if they did?

I called K&N about four months ago to get one . I was going on a 4000 Mile trip . Same route to and from to check Stock Filter and K&N for mileage difference They do not make one and don't know when they will 🤔👎. I measured my filter took the measurements to AutoZone, Advanced and Napa and they would not take the time to check it against other K&N filters 👎☹ maybe one day they will make one and I will go from there so for now they don't make one.

Found them to be more trouble that they are worth.

I found them to be a huge cost savings and very convenient. The air filters.

Buy one and be done for life.

Put 14 years and 225,000 miles on one for my Escape Hybrid.

Performance booster, probably not.
Cost saver, for sure yes.
Nice to have, for sure yes.

If you are a city driver, Do not clean them often. I'd check it every 20k and tap it to get the dead spiders out. Only wash and re-oil as needed. Like once every 100k.

P.S. I forgot to say my "FIRST" K&N went into a 1988 3.9L V6 Dodge Dakota. Other than the factory filter; that was the ONLY filter ever used in 22 years and a quarter million miles.

The only thing you will gain from a K&N air filter is the ability to clean and reuse.
No the only thing you will gain from a K&N air filter is additional large particle contamination in the combustion chamber.

There are lies, damn lies, and statistics.
The above video has it all. So take your pick.

It boils down to reality.
In reality does your truck engine need sterile laboratory grade air? Of course not. This is a good example of intuition working against you. (See thread "When two Mavericks Crash".)

Q: What does an engine air filter NEED to do? Really. Truly.

A: It needs to keep out large debris. Road rocks, gravel, pebbles, sand, road salt, dead leaves, mice, bees, very small creatures.

You can get ridiculous and go too far with the filtering. It does not need to keep out smoke or flour or bacteria or virus sized particles. It just doesn't. And trying to can starve your engine of air. The oxygen it needs for efficient combustion. These are internal combustion engines.

From the above video, two screen grabs. Probably not trustworthy but oh well shows a main point.

K&N does a great job filtering out larger particles, which is what you NEED.
Your intuition tells you filtering out infinitely small particles must be better, right? But it's not needed

And K&N blocks air flow just about the least, which is what your engine needs and what you should want. Your engine wants more oxygen, especially in high output conditions. Better HP. Better FE.

You may want to consider giving your car or truck what it actually needs, not what your intuition "feels" is best.

But for me. The #1 reason to switch is cost and convenience since ANY of the above are acceptable. Air filter choice won't be the reason you get rid of your truck. You will dump it for a newer one or crash it. Or wear out the seats. Or rust the bed. Or any number of reasons will come along for you to change/exchange vehicles not related to the air filter. That you can bet on.

:ROFLMAO: Keep large debris out? like gravel and rocks. 😭Clearly not. K&N are definitely filter rockes and bees . Good filter is a filter that filters air from certain size particles. Project farm statistics that @GPSMan is referencing above are collected on Dylos Laser Particle Counter - Laser based air quality monitor that shows 5 microns or larger particles in air filtration. K&M AIR filter is a joke when it comes to air filtration. K&N micron filtration information is conveniently not available! Why? because it is really bad filter. K&N filters are pretty lame when it comes to air filtration which is why they don't disclose this information to consumers.
for example, Fram Extra Guard (PH) is 95% at 20 micron, and the Tough Guard (TG) and Ultra are 99% at 20 micron. The data is listed right on their website. K&N isn't proud of their filtration rates or they would freely disclose them..
K&N known for a "high throughput" filter and sacrificed filtration efficiency for flow.
Of course air filtration is very important for an engine especially catching particles larger then 20 microns. 10 microns are preferably.

Exactly. Thats why I got one for my Buick Enclave. I've got 80,000 miles on the filter. Cleaned and reused a few times. Just about at the break even ($) point.

EDIT: To be clear, mine isn't a K&N. Its an AEM Dryflow. Same idea as far as filtration ability though.

What some don't understand is a truck engine is NOT a kidney dialysis machine.

K&N does what it needs to do.

You are welcome to use whatever you want in your car.

Test results mean nothing if they are the wrong kind if test!

The test(s) MavMav refers to fall under the "does not matter" category.

Just don't over wash your K&N.
I'd "dry" clean them every oil change.
I'd "wet" clean them every 100,000 miles in city condition. 50,000 or less if you drive on a lot of dirt.

Buy K+N if you think a filter's purpose is to pass air instead of being a filter.

https://www.nicoclub.com/archives/kn-vs-oem-filter.html

If you think its purpose is to pass more air, this won't help gas mileage at all unless you drive around at wide open throttle. Lowering resistance of the air filter does nothing at partial throttle since the throttle is the largest restriction in the intake.

As stated previously:

#1 purpose for me is cost savings followed by convenience. Have to buy one. That's it.

For reference I just looked up products of combustion of gasoline can produce particles of 150 microns, aka "soot". So if you are worried about sub 40 micron particles you better not add gasoline to your engine. Could be a disaster.

Happy Holidays Everyone

Get out there and do some stuff with your new trucks!

@GPSMan #1 purpose of an air filter is to filter air. K&M is not filtering fine particles. Comparing 40 microns to soft deposits 150 microns is not a comparison. two different animals.
You may compare K&N filter to Strainers 😭
