No matter how often it's mentioned, ignored. I wouldn't be one bit surprised to find that some number of these long waits are from dealers over selling their allotments and stringing people along, playing dumb, keeping them on the hook. maybe just the skeptic in me.
Salesman called today to inform me one of the other 3 Tremors got scheduled. Called him a bastard and we had a good laugh. They had one other Mav hit but didn't get the details.
How can you avoid overselling your allotment if you don't get the allotment until days after you've placed the orders? It was my understanding that dealer allocations weren't finalized until after the Maverick order window opened. So dealers had no way of knowing how many "slots" they were going to get when orders were being placed. Not trying to defend the dealers, but just keeping it real... This one is a FoMoCo issue. (Stop me if you've heard this before.)

Not only that, but the allotment methodology has changed a few times... Tim at LM complained about thinking they had the allotment methodology determined only to find out Ford flipped it on them. Can't blame the dealer when Ford keeps moving the goal posts.

Ford shouldn't be confirming orders if the dealer doesn't have the allocations.

Your idea that dealers don't know what allocation is coming is based on what?

I'll grant they don't know the exact number but have a darned good idea on what to expect based on their previous sales and model availability. Dealers and Ford are in regular if not constant contact.

And yet, from what I've seen the majority of orders that just got scheduled are loaded, not stripped. Ford seems to be purposely picking the higher dollar orders.
My Lariat order from a year ago and pushed to a '23 has yet to be scheduled.

My two cents for what it is worth there should not be a allotment system to begin with. It should be based on when the order was generated. Should not matter if a dealer sells one or a hundred.

Agree 100000%. Can't think of another goods or service where your chance of getting your order depends on who you order it from.

Well, according to several dealers on this forum, the allocation methodology changed multiple times just before and just after the Maverick order window opened, so there's that. Second, the dealers no longer have a point of contact that they can go to with detailed questions. Those folks were all let go when Ford offloaded a bunch of management types and mid-level professionals earlier this year.

Do you think Tim Bartz would have placed 600+ orders if they thought they were only going to get 63 Mavericks for the entire year (their original quota of allocations for MY2023)? This is a massive FoMoCo screw-up. Dealers have done their own bad deeds to get called out for, but "not ordering more than their allocation" when the allocations were not yet set is not the dealer's fault.

I disagree. A "confirmed" order just means that Ford has received your order and it's fundamentally "correct" (meaning you didn't order an "non-buildable" combination of features. If YOU interpreted that as "My order is on its way to me," then YOU misunderstood the process. Your dealer should have been able to help you understand the process. Likewise, reading some of the past threads that explain what happens after you place your order here on MTC would have helped you understand it better.

Ordered my Area 51 hybrid XL 9/17 with just a trailer hitch as an option, priority code 19. No VIN or email from Ford yet.
I also ordered 9/17/22, Area 51 hybrid XL, trailer hitch, spare tire, spray-in bedliner...sadly, no email from Ford for confirmation, I called the Ford Marketing and they said that my order is confirmed.

So when Ford says,
"Congratulations on ordering your new Maverick XLT!" I shouldn't assume they will deliver it?

Do you work in the factory? Have a cousin in Ford Corp HQ? What's the secret? 😂
I'm not that important...lol

I work at one of my local Ford dealers in my area in the parts department, been working in a Ford dealer for 26 years in various positions.

Correct. As shown by the many folks on here who had one of two things done to their 2022 order.

1. They were told......ohhh it feels like a year ago but was more like August/September that they would not be getting a 2022 and would need to re-order (not roll over) to a 2023 if they were still interested.
2. More recently, people WITH A VIN NUMBER ASSIGNED (sometimes assigned months ago), were told "oops, we are going to have to try to make this a 2023, but we aren't sure how or when quite yet".

Do either of those real world and recent examples make you warm and fuzzy inside about the rock solid promises within the "Congratulations on ordering your new Maverick XLT!" email?
