Apple Carplay stopped working Oct 7.

It worked the night before, but heading into work on Friday morning, it just wouldn't connect.

Tried turning phone on and off, disconnecting and reconnecting, but it doesn't connect.

A couple of times the phone connected via bluetooth and apps started playing, which I didn't think was possible. It will eventually play stuff from the app, but doesn't start Carplay.

Has anybody else noticed this?

Apps are Libby (plays audiobooks from the library) and Podcaster. Phone is Iphone 6 IOS 12.5.6, which is up to date for that phone.

Carplay has always been flakey, sometimes starting up right away, other times requiring me to unlock the phone, sometimes requiring the phone to be turned on and off, but now it doesn't start.

Lariat with the Bose system. I usually just connect via USB cable.

Have you tried a new cable? They tend to be the culprit. Also use the USBC to lighting instead of the A to lighting.

And just a fyi it's B&O(bangen olsen) not Bose. Assuming you have a Lariat with Lux package.

You can force a reset of your touch screen by pressing and holding both the power button and skip button until the system restarts. It should take about 10 seconds of holding both buttons down for the reset to start. Make sure the vehicle is powered on. This occurs sometimes with my Android Auto.

This may resolve. In my XL I had an issue where the USB outlets got mad with a certain cable. You could tell because they would no longer provide power or data for Carplay, and the LED light around them would be off. Reset on the head unit resolved this.

Are you getting power from the USB still ?

My iphone SE 2016 on iOS 14.3, jailbroken, works great.

Ok, so I've been happy listening to my books without carplay, but THursday I wanted to use Google Maps, and couldn't. So I need to get this resolved.

I'll contact the Ford guy with my VIN. I couldn't find the number in the Ford app, so had to take a picture of the sticker.

I can also try another cable.

And possibly do the reset somebody suggested.

And as somebody has posted, the Iphone 6 is still supported for Carplay, unless there's some disconnect where the Carplay programmers made it non-working, but didn't tell the website guys. (Or the meeting to post the new supported list on the website hasn't happened. I can see it now, people talking that the app is already disabled for IOS 12 and everybody agrees the website needs changing but it still takes 45 minutes of talking before the action item passes.)

In addition to the above, on the iPhone, try this. Hold down the power button on the side and the home button below the screen. Don’t let go until the screen goes black and then the Apple logo appears. That sometimes addresses issues a normal reboot can’t fix.

Do be sure to try another cable and to state the obvious, use the USB ports below the climate control panel, not on the back of the center console.

If that doesn’t help, go into settings on the Sync 3 touchscreen in the truck. Make sure CarPlay is still enabled.

You’re already up to date on the iPhone so that’s good.

Do a hard reset of your iPhone. You can find out how to do this online. This might help.

Consider getting yourself a wireless CarPlay adapter too. Saves the wear and tear on the phone connector. Apple's connectors have always been poor quality in my opinion. More expensive wireless CarPlay adapters aren't always better. I originally purchased one that was twice the price, but it wouldn't connect reliably to my new 13 Pro. Here's what I have.

I get that, but you always have problems with the very old models of shit in the now. Those phones weren’t made for todays uses hardware wise. Regardless of supported or not they are just big problems in the end.

Man I wish I had a jailbroken one. I need to watch football on it. Is it easy to jailbreak one?
