I have a 22 that is scheduled to be built...sometime and another I converted to a 23. If my 23 gets a build date before my 22 shows up, I would GLADLY accept $2k from my dealer not to take it. My dealer is only marking them up $3k though so I don't see them offering me anything to not take it. I plan on selling it when the 23 is built anyways and it would save me a hit on my credit.

Their offer is a joke.

Carvana is currently offering me as of 10/15/2022 $6,036 over my total out-the-door price of $26,068 on my Maverick XLT Hybrid with 5,619 miles on it. Or $7,484 over MSRP of $24,620.

I have a 22 lariat hybrid with copilot and luxury package, msrp at $30,000. Im being quoted $22k at vroom and $27k at carvana. It only has 500 miles on it. How are you getting much better numbers?

Out of curiosity, what happens if you try a zip code of 75006 instead of yours, when requesting those offers?

Pricing is regional. Using a TX zip code near @huunvubu just got you a much higher offer. That explains the difference.
Still much lower tho, his msrp is $24k and got offered $32k
My msrp is $30k and got offered$31k eh. Lol

Also variation based on what features they value most, etc. It's not always the most logical reasoning. XLs offered more than Lariats at times...

I waited 14 months for mine, picked it up last Saturday. It depends on how bad you want the truck. I love mine and wouldn't take $10K above what I paid for it.
It's the same concept with your house if you bought it 10 years ago. You can cash in and sell but you have to pay more to replace it, unless you wait it out in an apartment with your family hoping prices go back to 10 years ago.

I'd take 4 myself. This saves you title and tax issues.

I have one on order and a beater I was going to trade in, but the delays we're so long I had to fix up the beater and now it's good for another 50k miles. If you are in the same position I think you'll never get the chance again to make 4 or 5k like this again. I should have ordered a second one when the window opened. Imho, once this recession hits home, cars are going to drop back down. And you will loose not only what u could have gotten, but also the depreciation. Something like 8k is my guess.

Remember, once u can get a new truck on the lot for 23k, your XL is worth 20k at best.

I'm buying a Maverick to use as a vehicle. I have no illusion that its an appreciating asset. Quite the contrary it needs to be fed insurance, fuel, depriciation, excise tax, sales tax, license and registration, maintenance.
For those that have made money on vehicles in this market, good for you. For everyone else don't make any foolish financial decisions.

My maverick came in and the dealer offered me 2k to walk away from the truck so they can resell it for more. They aren't adding anything on to the MSRP on me. And I have to wait for Ford to release the recall for the brake lights so I can take it home. I'm not going to walk away. Just wondering what some of your thoughts were??
They just want to make some more money, I would keep it, LOVE mine.

That's a call only you can make but as a retired Risk manager who settled litigation as a primary function of my job, there is a reason we referred to initial offer as "first offer".

Can you describe your desires more? If you actually want the truck, 2k is not worth walking away. There isn’t another equivalent truck in the market at this price for this year or next, probably ever really with the way the market is inflating wildly beyond economist expectations.
Excellent point. It's definitely a seller's market with high demand and short supply with no end in sight. Over the term lengths of the loan, 2k is less than $10 more a month.

It is a capital gain. The accounting dept at the dealer has to 1099 you for payments that exceed $600. Not worth it even at 10k profit because $3-4k of the profit will be taxed as ordinary income on your fed and state tax returns.

You will save a lot more on gas over the years than a short term profit.

How does the tax situation work if someone sells on a service like Carvana? Is there a sale tax or something?
