My humble take on this, after seeing so many others complain of their trucks getting sold out from under them—is at least this dealer is being upfront about it. A buyer is being given an option. Mind you, their 2k offer is just that—an offer. If I were semi-interested in such an offer, I’d be countering for more and see how much it will really be worth. 2k simply gets you to 2023 pricing. But if I simply needed to have a vehicle, the offer amount won’t matter, as I would not be selling.

Sounds about right for a lot of dealerships out there lol. Just out of curiosity, I grabbed an estimate on what Carvana would pay me for my Maverick if I had it in hand and the figure was a couple thousand higher than I'm paying Ford.
Even if sales tax is added? Or does your state not have any?

FWIW, that's not relevant to anything in this thread let alone what you replied to.

Exactly. 65-90% of the profit (resale minus cost minus qualifying expenses, ignoring any state taxes..) is preferable to $0.

Sure, so the advice should be to remember to set some aside for taxes to , not to act like it's not worthwhile.
You’re the one who asked “what’s there to think?” I think it’s totally relevant that the dealers are failing at being the middleman.

If you got $6k...and you had a 23 on order...and you didn't need a vehicle right now...it'd be a no-brainer. But you've already said you're keeping it, so to that I'd say "enjoy"!!

If you don't need the truck, then go for every dollar. Tell them CarMax offer 7k.

How can they hold your truck for a Recall that Hasn't been issued?

More than likely they'll sell it for a steep markup such as $10-15K over, easily. Just looking at used ones with either low or higher miles, $23,000 XLs are selling between $31-35K, $27,000 XLTs are selling between $35-39K and $32,000 Lariats are selling between $40-49K. It's insanity, and yet car values are dropping supposedly. Not for the Mavericks right now. Probably not ever since it's a class of vehicle that's been gone for years that people have been craving for. So there will always be a market for them for years to come.

I would consider yourself lucky to "only" pay sticker which is better than a markup like virtually every other dealership out there. I would take the Maverick. You'll regret it considering you can't order a '23 anymore to replace it.
I just picked up a xlt hybrid yesterday for 32k plus doc fees brand new with lux pkg ..they wanted 33k so went down a little..i kept my my23 order in place which was an xlt ecoboost fwd with copilot and lux pkg so will c in sev months what i want to do. Hoping the hybrid holds its value .. and trade it in for as much or more than what i will pay for the 23

Carvana's offers are based on location and demand.

I live in Texas where demand is high. Your Connecticut location is more Volvo area not truck country.
I know the stereotype of Connecticut is that it's all rich white people, but that's really just near NYC. The rest of the state is rural, with a few poor cities mixed in. Lot's of trucks here.

My maverick came in and the dealer offered me 2k to walk away from the truck so they can resell it for more. They aren't adding anything on to the MSRP on me. And I have to wait for Ford to release the recall for the brake lights so I can take it home. I'm not going to walk away. Just wondering what some of your thoughts were??
My dealer offered me 2.5K to walk away............I didn't

It has been issued. Ford just doesn't have a fix for it yet apparently. All Ford has said is early 4th quarter and we're in the 4th quarter. 🤷

You are assuming that you know what the sellers federal tax rate bracket is and that they are in a state that has income taxes.

For me living in Texas there is no income tax.

As for Federal it will not be more than 10% since we are retired and on SSN income and currently paying at the 0% level.

Your assumption of a lot less, which for me is about $600 of the $6000 gain, is not the same as reality.
In Missouri if your take procession there's sales taxes too. Not sure if you'd have to pay that of the dealer gets it from you.

I waited 14 months for mine, picked it up last Saturday. It depends on how bad you want the truck. I love mine and wouldn't take $10K above what I paid for it.
