Well it happened as I predicted. The Maverick Lariat I ordered June 18, 2021, finally arrived. The dealer sent me an email with the buyer's order form showing current MSRP rather than the one in June 2021. It is a $3000 increase. I explained before to the sales manager about price protection for trucks ordered before Dec. 26, 2021 and even included the link on youtube that explains this completely. I wrote back and told them trying to increase the deal by $3000 after making me wait 16 months is as low as it gets. Especially since there is no reason to as Ford makes up the difference. I don't know if I want to pay an additional $3000 as I really don't need the truck. However, I can probably make a few thousand bucks flipping it anyway. It is a fairly loaded Lariat hybrid they want a little over $38,000 for. I think I can sell it for around $4 to 5,000 more than that. Even $3000 more might be worth while since I would just drive it from the dealer, and put it in the garage until it sold. I just hate the thought of letting them keep it and selling it for $10,000 more on the lot. What do you all think?
Try to negotiate an extended warranty, service warranty or try to have them increase your trade in vehicles price to even out the price increase.

Before you figure you won't win, check with an atty. A contract does not need to be signed to be valid. Contracts can even be verbal. IMO basic business law tells me the dealer's order form is their price offer to you. Acceptance of that price by having them place an order under your name and driver's license = Contract.

Yes they want you to get mad and cancel because they will probably ADM $10-20K to some sucker on their lot.
You are correct , Lawyers always win…no matter what they get paid.

Anyone who says " call Ford " can NOT say that the phone agents solved an issue for them, I spent 2 hours on the phone and they can NOT do anything. They actually have given me wrong advice ( told me I would get the rebate straight from Ford ) and none of them would send me an email or put anything in writing.

As mentioned above, if you are trading in, negotiate a higher trade in, they 10000% know they are factoring in that rebate from Ford coming to them and increasing their profit, so ask them to split the difference on an increased trade offer.

The ONLY way I have heard anyone getting help from Ford is social media, hop on twitter and DM Jim Farley, maybe that will get attention.

At risk of walking, I negotiated a higher trade in. After I pay, I am then going to go the social media route, and DM until someone looks at it. Worst case, I burn a bridge with the dealer but who cares. Best case, they get contacted by Ford and I see a refund check 45 days or so after purchase.

I figure if I push the issue any further, they can tell me to take a hike, slap on an ADM, and any noise I make with Ford they will just lie their way out of. Too many stories of retail orders disappearing after "failed attempts" to contact the purchaser.

Once I am out the door, I have the truck, completed my trade, and then hopefully if I squeak the wheel enough Ford can do something to make it right.

Undecided if I will go to social media, but I have waited over a year for this truck, and the other order I placed actually got a VIN, really a miracle, but I expect that dealer to be 10x worse than the one about to take delivery.

Basic contract law is that yes, it is an offer. But acceptance of an offer requires consideration (or reliance) by the other party. No consideration (such as a deposit) or reliance (incurring costs based on expected receipt of truck) here so no contract.

If they're trying to get more money out of the deal they aren't going to agree to give it away in a higher trade value. Likewise an ESP or maintenance plan which can be cancelled.

I didn’t even know about the price protection date. I’m glad I signed my order confirmation on 10/23!! I wouldn’t pay a dollar extra!!!

Let them know you have all paperwork and emails from day one along with the price protection information. Let them know you are reaching out to every local tv news outlet and pitching this consumer rip-off story. The possibility of a news crew showing up at there lot is not worth the profits they would make for Being a**holes ! Trust me when I say this will work. Good luck
Pipe dream.

Nope, no response yet.
I can tell you what has been very effective with the folks here on MTC - let us know the dealership name and web page - AFTER THE DEALER RESPONDS UNFAVORABLY - whereas if they respond and agree to the original deal - just let us all know. If not, I bet a bunch of us will YELP and rate review that dealership with a barrage of comments regarding the matter. This action of support by the
MTC community has been extremely effective at getting the attention of dealerships - and for their honorable actions.

But if that is to happen we will need to be honorable with FACTS, not subjective commentary. Meanwhile I hope this works out well for you!

I kinda like the Granger 3,000 BELOW msrp instead of 3,000 ABOVE msrp...go with dealers you trust.

Ad wrap tailgate and two doors with descriptive info and drive around dealership periodically. Maybe get funded by MSRP dealer.🤷
Years ago a dealer tried to get over on my dad for a 1985 Plymouth grand fury he special ordered. He picketed the place on the sidewalk out front. For 15 minutes until they relented. Knowing dad he would have been there until today otherwise.

It cracks me up that beanie babies had more consumer protection than Ford does. Ford dealers are nothing more than Authorized retailers/resellers and Ford doesn't give a damn.

If you sold beanie babies for higher than $5.95 during the craze they would either slap you with a volume limit or cancel your contract. They didn't mess about either.

My family's business got "investigated" multiple times over the years by the company because of consumer complaints. Multiple phone calls to reinforce our contract. We even had a rep and a few secret shoppers show up to look at our signage and pricing. We were a very small volume mom and pop shop.
