With all the rain in the northeast, my sunroof started leaking into the interior, driver's A-post by floor and front cupholder. Dealer checked and said it was the glass. They tried to adjust but could not fix it. Good thing, at most 2 weeks, directly from the supplier.

THIS is why I've avoided sunroofs. One of the reasons.

No rain in Southern CA, but pressure wash my Mav and so far no leaks at the sunroof or the windows. Hope part comes sooner than 2 weeks.

I understand, but I have not had an issue with any other sunroof leaking into the interior. If they leak it goes into the drainage system or that system just needs to be cleaned. This problem appears to be something with the way it was built. Hopefully the next one solves the problem. I just like the feeling of the windows down, sunroof open and rear window open. I only enjoy it because I drive at night a lot. I would get a convertible, but I am not a fan of sunburns.

So my dad owned an auto-glass shop for 30 years before he retired. Having worked there is high school he fixed a ton leaking sun roofs, while I was present. One of the biggest reasons was that the drainage channel for the sun roof would get clogged with tree debris, leaves, pine straw, acorns, etc... and cause that water to seep into the car and leak. Other times it was a bad seal around the glass, rusted through areas, or it was coming in some other place and just making its way out around the sun roof.

If you have access to an air hose you can mix a solution of about 70/30 water and dish soap, spread it around the area and blow air up from the inside. If it is a leak around the seal then it will most likely bubble up and you can find where exactly the water is coming in at.

First thing I would check is the drain to make sure it is clear of any junk, though.

...same policy of avoidance here as well. I've never known of any sunroof (or T-top), by any manufacturer, which didn't leak eventually.

And by the way, I find that the slide-open rear window provides outstanding ventilation benefits.
I added it to my order as kind of an afterthought, but would REALLY miss it if I hadn't.

Did I mention how much I love my Mav?

So the OP is mistaken that his is leaking?????
Probably not. It does happen, and as was mentioned in the other post, the most common culprit is the clogged drain lines. Could be a bad unit overall, or another seal letting water in, but I would start with the drain holes. You can pour some water into the drain lines with a funnel and see if it comes out underneath the truck where its supposed to go ;)

I agree with this constructive reply. Not sure why some feel it necessary to suggest there could not be a problem based on their experience. I agree they are designed not to leak but it can happen. I would also start with the drain. Most likely not obstructed with debris but possible poorly routed causing blockage or restriction. Good luck getting resolved. Last thing you want on a new vehicle is ongoing water issues.

I'm not saying he is mistaken... Just saying I have never had any leaks on the cars I have owned with a sun/moon roof. I've owned multiple vehicles, trucks, cars and SUVs from different brands with no leaks. Even the Opel with the hand crank for the sun roofs never leaked. I'm not saying it can't happen. It's just not my experience.

OK, I misunderstood your attempt to help this individual with the issue they are having. Thanks again for your insight and helpful input. "/sarcasm"

So your reply may have been more directed at those who were saying this is why they did not get a sunroof? I can better understand that.
